Job summary

Alstom is seeking a Maintenance Technician (Services) to service, maintain, and overhaul rolling stock and infrastructure equipment. You will work with the Maintenance Team to ensure safe, efficient operations and adherence to quality standards in a dynamic railway environment.

The role demands 3–5 years of technical experience (mechanical or electrical), dual-skilled capabilities, and the ability to follow procedures, use reporting systems, and contribute to continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or technical qualification preferred.
• Time served apprenticeship or equivalent (ONC/HNC/City & Guilds) or recognised equivalent.
• Dual skilled (mechanical and electrical).
• Desirable: engineering degree.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and service rolling stock and infrastructure equipment.
• Adhere to Quality Systems and project standards.
• Work as part of a team to complete tasks on time.
• Follow work instructions and SOPs.
• Record progress using MMIS/SES.
• Report status of operations and complete work orders.
• Support continuous improvement and 5S housekeeping.
• Be available for training in other skills.

Purpose of the Job

The Maintenance Operator is responsible to service, maintain, perform warranty repairs and overhaul rolling stock and Infrastructure equipment. As part of the maintenance team, they will ensure the equipment is serviced and maintained in a safe, efficient and cost-effective manner whilst constantly seeking to improve quality.

Key accountabilities:

Maintenance

• Work as directed by and in co-operation with the Team Leaders and Production Management Team in order to:
• Adhere to and work within Quality Systems to the current applicable standards.
• Work as part of a team, complete or assist in any of the team's activities to ensure work is completed on time to specification.
• Understand and follow work instructions, Standard Operating Sheets and Task Sequencing.
• Apply Special Processes.
• Support secondary level fault finding as and when required.
• Use work related IT Systems as required including MMIS/SES to record progress of operations and status of issues.

Reporting

• Accurately report status of operations, complete Work Checklists and Work Orders with the required level of detail including completion time.

Continuous Improvement

• Make suggestions and recommendations for productivity improvements working with the team leaders and Industrial Team.
• Maintain 5S good housekeeping of all related work areas in accordance with set standards.

Training/Agility

• Be capable of accepting training in other skills and carry out duties, e.g. forklift, road vehicle driving (if certified), attend call-outs and breakdowns if required.
• Be capable of being re-trained in other activities/skills as required by the Production Management Team in order to support the Operations as required.

EHS

• Understand and abide to safety notices, rules and regulations and follow safe working practices compliant with local standards.
• Comply with all EHS protection and AZDP measures.

Key Performance Indicators

• Completion of maintenance tasks according to schedule with the required quality
• Accurate reporting of Operations Progress, spent time

Main Required Competences

Educational Requirements Describe the minimum educational requirement/level

Mandatory:

• Associates degree, technical major preferred.
• Time served apprenticeship or equivalent with associated technical qualifications (ONC/HNC/City & Guilds) or recognised equivalent
• Dual skilled (mechanical and electrical)

Desirable:

• Graduated from engineering school

Experience

Mandatory:

• 3 -5 years of experience in technical knowledge, either mechanical or electrical / electronics
• General railway and Product knowledge
• Railway safety & RAM
• EHS knowledge
• Experience of working to procedures, work instructions and vehicle maintenance instructions
• Knowledge, and practical experience of train maintenance
• Experience of mentoring and instructing other team members
• Technical skills in fault finding, reading schematic diagrams, work to technical instructions
• Languages : Country language
