Job summary

Responsibilities

• Oversee site maintenance activities per plan and provide input to achieve outcomes.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment and systems for emergency repairs; perform preventive maintenance inspections.
• Provide operational support and act as first-line supervisor of a transactional operations area.
• Explain the local action plan to team members and motivate them to achieve goals.
• Assign short-term work schedules to a team of subordinates to meet timelines.
• Monitor performance and implement corrective actions to improve timeliness and quality.
• Follow HSE policies and identify risks, ensuring safe working methods.
• Plan and coordinate testing and inspection of products and processes; drive continuous improvement.
• Access internal communications to retrieve information.
• Provide instruction to less experienced colleagues to develop their skills.

Job Description Summary

Role purpose

Supervises employees on an assigned shift to perform maintenance or service functions to specific time, quality, and cost standards. Maintenance activities can range from janitorial, caretaker, manual maintenance work, carpentry, painting and plumbing. At more senior levels may include a higher degree of troubleshooting and more complex maintenance such as machine installation/replacement or electrical work.

Key responsibilities

Site Maintenance

Perform a range of site-maintenance activities, critically reviewing and providing input while working within the established site-maintenance plan to achieve preestablished outcomes.

Equipment Maintenance and Repair

Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment and systems for emergency repairs and carry out preventive maintenance inspections.

Operations Management

Provide operational support services and sometimes act as first-line supervisor of a transactional operations area. Involves using existing systems and protocols.

Leadership and Direction

Explain the local action plan, to support team members in their understanding of what needs to be done, and how this relates to the broader business plan and the organization's strategy, mission, and vision; motivate people to achieve local business goals.

Work Scheduling and Allocation

Assign short-term work schedules to a team of subordinates in order to achieve expectations while following established timelines.

Performance Management

Respond to personal objectives and use performance management systems to improve personal performance; or monitor the performance of the team, allocate work and review completion, take appropriate corrective action to ensure timeliness and quality, and contribute to formal individual performance management and appraisal.

Health, Safety, and Environment

Follow the organization's health, safety, and environment (HSE) policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions to identify and mitigate environmental risks and risks to the well-being of self and others in the workplace; instruct the team in safe working methods; identify instances of risky behaviors within the team and take appropriate action, escalating serious issues as appropriate.

Quality Assurance

Plan and coordinate testing and inspection of products and processes. Implement corrective actions or continuous improvement initiatives and monitor them to make sure they are effective.
