Job summary

Chubb India seeks an experienced Mainframe Technical Lead – Application Support to oversee billing production support and guide a skilled cross-functional team. The role requires 10–14 years of COBOL/JCL/DB2/CICS/VSAM expertise and a strong track record in debugging and supporting large-scale mainframe workloads.

You will drive incident resolution, engage with business users, and contribute to modernization efforts, including AI-driven enhancements and automation initiatives.

Qualifications

• 10–14 years of mainframe application support (COBOL/JCL/DB2/CICS/VSAM).
• Expert debugging with FileAid, Xpeditor and Abend-Aid.
• Experience with batch scheduling tools and production control.
• ServiceNow for change management and approvals.
• Strong SQL skills; SPUFI usage.
• Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Lead billing production support; monitor tasks and coach team members.

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Mainframe Application Support specialist with 10–14 years of handson expertise in COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS & VSAM to support Billing Applications. The ideal candidate should be open to learning new technologies and AI tools.

Responsibilities:

• Lead billing production support by monitoring task performance, coaching team members, and providing feedback to developers and onshore peers.
• Quality Control: Assist in identifying and resolving defects; ensure adherence to quality standards.
• Problem Solving: Act as the first point of escalation for the offshore team and primary contact for business users; assist with implementing solutions.
• Training and Development: Leverage KT documentation to train new staff, cross-train existing team members, and support skill development.
• Process Improvement: Suggest and implement improvements that increase efficiency and system stability.
• Investigate root causes for recurring functional issues and propose preventive actions.
• Analyze business process flows and identify gaps or improvement areas in mainframe applications.
• Maintain detailed incident logs, Root Cause Analysis (RCA) documents, and functional SOPs.
• Provide timely updates to users and stakeholders on incident status and resolution.
• Prepare and share regular reports on incident trends, SLA compliance, and functional health.
• Document functional issues, resolutions, and workarounds in the knowledge base.
• Participate in modernization initiatives and explore integration with new technologies and AI tools.

Skills & Experience:

• 10–14 years of experience in mainframe application support (COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, VSAM).
• Advanced proficiency in COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, and VSAM.
• Expert skills in debugging and troubleshooting tools such as FileAid, Xpeditor, and Abend-Aid.
• Experience with batch scheduling tools and production control.
• Proficiency in software configuration/change management tools (e.g., ServiceNow).
• Expert at writing complex SQL queries and using database tools like SPUFI.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Experience in the insurance domain is a plus.

Nice to Have:

• Java, WebSphere, Azure, Automation, and AI skills.
