Job summary

Atos in Navi Mumbai is seeking a seasoned Mainframe Application Architect with 15+ years of experience in COBOL, JCL, VSAM, CICS, DB2 and related technologies. You will design and optimize hybrid mainframe and distributed systems, drive performance improvements, and mentor junior developers.

The role requires strong SDLC and DevOps experience, familiarity with CI/CD, version control, testing tools, and excellent collaboration.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of mainframe development with COBOL, JCL, VSAM, CICS, DB2, IMS, ReXX, EZT.
• Hybrid architecture experience with mainframe and distributed apps.
• Experience in performance tuning: API integration, monolith decomposition, SMF analysis, DB tuning.
• Familiarity with SDLC and DevOps (CI/CD).
• Experience with version control systems and SCM tools.
• Knowledge of testing methodologies for mainframe apps.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; team collaboration.
• Attention to detail and delivering high-quality code.
• Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment.

We are looking for Mainframe Application Architect please find the JD below:

Type of Hire: Full-Time

Mandatory Skills:

• Strong experience (15+ years) in mainframe application development with proficiency in mainframe technologies such as COBOL, JCL, VSAM, CICS, DB2, IMS, ReXX, EZT etc
• Exposure to hybrid architecture with both mainframe and distributed applications
• Exposure to any performance tuning activities in Mainframe like API integration, monolith code componentization, SMF log analysis, Database fine‑tuning etc
• Understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) methodologies and best practices and working knowledge in DevOps (CI/CD)
• Experience with version control systems and software configuration management tools
• Familiarity with testing methodologies and tools for mainframe applications
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and debug complex technical issues
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high‑quality code and solutions
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and priorities in a dynamic environment

Nice to have:

• Knowledge of any modern programming languages and frameworks such as Java, .NET or Python and their integration with mainframe systems
• Understanding the principles of AI and its application in Mainframe Modernization
• Any exposure to Mainframe Modernization principles and toolsets like Rocket, AWS Transform etc
