Job summary

Tech Mahindra seeks an experienced OpenShift/Kubernetes Platform Administrator in Hyderabad to install, configure, and maintain container platforms. You will support ARO, AKS, EKS, and hybrid-cloud environments, ensuring availability, performance, and security.

The role includes IaC with Terraform/Ansible/Python, DevSecOps tooling, and collaboration with multiple engineering teams to drive platform maturity.

Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on experience managing Kubernetes platforms (OpenShift, ARO, AKS, EKS).
• Experience with Istio Service Mesh and containerization using Docker/Podman.
• Proficient with Terraform, Ansible, and Python for IaC and automation.
• Hands-on with DevSecOps tools: Jenkins, GitHub, ArgoCD, Azure DevOps, Artifactory.

OpenShift / Kubernetes Platform Administration

• Install, configure, upgrade, patch, and maintain OpenShift and Kubernetes platforms.
• Support Red Hat OpenShift, Azure Red Hat OpenShift (ARO), AKS, EKS, and hybrid-cloud container platforms.
• Ensure platform availability, scalability, resiliency, and performance.

Azure Red Hat OpenShift (ARO) & Service Mesh Management

• Deploy and support ARO clusters in Azure.
• Implement and manage Red Hat Service Mesh / Istio.
• Configure ingress, traffic management, mTLS, security policies, and inter-service communication.
• Support multi-cluster and hybrid-cloud architectures.

Containerization & Application Modernization

• Containerize Java, .NET, and other workloads using Docker and Podman.
• Migrate traditional applications to container-based platforms.
• Optimize container images and runtime performance.
• Support onboarding of applications to OpenShift.

Infrastructure Automation

• Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using:
  • Terraform
  • Ansible
  • Python
• Automate provisioning, configuration management, deployments, patching, scaling, and recovery processes.
• Build reusable automation frameworks and operational runbooks.

DevSecOps Enablement

• Support and integrate:
  • Jenkins
  • GitHub
  • ArgoCD
  • Azure DevOps
  • Artifactory
• Implement GitOps-based deployments.
• Improve deployment automation and CI/CD pipelines.
• Enforce security controls and compliance standards.

Azure Infrastructure Support

• Design and support OpenShift deployments on Azure.
• Work with networking, storage, monitoring, security, and identity services in Azure.
• Troubleshoot cloud infrastructure issues affecting container workloads.

Performance Engineering & Middleware Support

• Support and tune:
  • JBoss
  • JWS
  • Apache
  • Nginx
• Assist application teams with performance optimization of Java and .NET applications running on OpenShift.

Monitoring, Observability & Troubleshooting

• Implement and support monitoring solutions using:
  • Dynatrace
  • Prometheus
  • Grafana
  • Kiali
• Analyze incidents and platform issues.
• Perform root cause analysis and remediation.
• Ensure platform health, capacity management, and proactive monitoring.

Security & Compliance

• Implement platform security best practices.
• Manage certificates, secrets, RBAC, network policies, and service mesh security.
• Support vulnerability remediation and security compliance activities.
• Maintain secure container platform operations.

Collaboration & Technical Leadership

• Partner with application, SRE, Cloud Engineering, DevOps, Security, and Infrastructure teams.
• Support application onboarding and troubleshooting.
• Create technical standards, architecture documentation, and operational procedures.
• Provide L3 platform support and act as an escalation point for critical incidents.

Requirements

• Extensive hands‑on experience in the administration and supporting the Kubernetes platforms like (Red Hat Openshift, ARO, AKS, EKS, etc).
• Hands‑on experience with Red Hat ARO /Istio Service Mesh.
• Extensive hands‑on experience with containerization of various stacks of applications on heterogeneous platforms using Docker and Podman.
• Prior automation experience in writing Terraform, Ansible, and Python.
• Proficient in multiple DevSecOps (Jenkins, GitHub, ArgoCD, Azure DevOps Artifactory, etc.) tools, and techniques and hands‑on experience in infrastructure automation and configuration management.
• Extensive hands‑on experience with Azure services
• Strong knowledge of Application servers (JBoss, JWS) and Web servers (Apache, Nginx) and prior work experience in configuration and performance tuning of the Java and .NET applications is required.
• Prior work experience of Dynatrace, Prometheus, Grafana, and Kiali is preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment, frequently collaborating with multiple teams for solutions support debugging, and troubleshooting.
• Certification in Rehhat Openshift / CKA is mandatory.
