Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage first-mile logistics operations as a primary responsibility.
• Plan and coordinate transportation from suppliers/locations to warehouses and distribution points.
• Manage transporters, logistics partners and vendors, including negotiations and SLAs.
• Oversee larger-vehicle fleet operations, deployment and route planning.
• Oversee warehouse receiving, storage, dispatch and distribution.
• Monitor logistics KPIs such as on-time delivery, fleet utilization and cost.
• Develop and implement strategies to improve productivity and reduce costs.
• Analyse logistics data to identify bottlenecks and drive improvements.
• Coordinate order-to-delivery cycle and resolve operational issues.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, statutory and ISO requirements.

Role Summary

We are looking for a hands-on and operationally focused Head of Logistics to lead end-to-end logistics operations, with a strong focus on first-mile transportation, fleet management, vendor management, warehouse operations and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage first-mile logistics operations as a primary responsibility.
• Plan and coordinate transportation from suppliers/locations to warehouses, fulfilment centres and distribution points.
• Manage transporters, logistics partners and vendors, including negotiations, performance monitoring and service-level adherence.
• Manage and optimize larger-vehicle transportation/fleet operations, including vehicle deployment, utilization and route planning.
• Oversee warehouse receiving, storage, dispatch and distribution operations.
• Optimize warehouse space utilization and ensure inventory accuracy through appropriate controls and cycle counts.
• Monitor logistics KPIs including on-time delivery, fleet utilisation, turnaround time, logistics cost and service levels.
• Develop and implement logistics strategies to improve productivity and reduce operational costs.
• Analyse logistics and supply-chain data to identify bottlenecks and implement continuous process improvements.
• Coordinate the complete order-to-delivery cycle and proactively resolve operational issues.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, statutory and applicable ISO requirements.
• Lead, coach and develop warehouse, transportation and logistics teams.
• Drive operational excellence in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

Mandatory Requirements

• 57 years of relevant experience in logistics, transportation, warehouse and/or fleet operations.
• Strong and demonstrable first-mile logistics experience, which should be a significant/primary part of the candidate's role.
• Experience in quick-commerce only
• Hands-on experience managing vendors and transporters.
• Hands-on experience with larger-vehicle transportation/fleet operations.
• Strong understanding of warehouse and transportation operations.
• Experience with WMS and/or TMS is preferred/required for the role.
• Strong leadership, analytical, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to operate effectively under pressure and resolve unforeseen logistics issues quickly.

Education

B.Tech / MBA from Tier 1 or Tier 2 institutions preferred, including NITs, IIMs, NITIE, SP Jain and Welingkar Institute.
