Job summary

upGrad is seeking a Loan Advisor to help students secure education loans for overseas study. The role involves assessing financial needs, guiding loan options, gathering documents, and coordinating with lending partners through disbursement.

You will manage loan files, keep LMS/CRM updated, and support students with application tracking, queries, and escalation when needed. Strong communication and Excel skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Commerce, Business Administration or a related field.
• 1–3 years of experience in loan processing, financial services or customer support.
• Experience in education loans / study abroad / EdTech is a plus.

About the Role

We are looking for a Loan Advisor to support students in securing education loans for their overseas education journey. The role involves understanding students' financial requirements, guiding them through loan options, managing documentation, and coordinating with lending partners until loan disbursement.

Key Responsibilities

Student Engagement

• Connect with new leads and understand students' financial requirements, including tuition fees, living expenses and visa funds.
• Explain suitable loan options, eligibility criteria, terms and processes clearly.

Loan Application & Documentation

• Pre-qualify students based on financial and eligibility criteria.
• Provide document checklists and assist students with document collection.
• Review documents for completeness and accuracy.

File Management

• Prepare, maintain and submit accurate loan files to partner vendors/lenders.
• Ensure all application details are updated correctly in the LMS/CRM.

Application Tracking & Support

• Coordinate with students and lending partners throughout the loan process.
• Track application status and proactively follow up to expedite processing.
• Keep students updated on application progress.
• Resolve student queries related to loan applications.
• Escalate complex cases to the Team Lead when required.
• Guide students through sanction letters and loan disbursement.

MIS & Reporting

• Maintain accurate and updated records in CRM/LMS.
• Prepare and contribute to daily/weekly reports and performance tracking.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Commerce, Business Administration or a related field.
• 1–3 years of experience in loan processing, financial services, customer support or a similar role.
• Experience in education loans / study abroad / EdTech will be an added advantage.
• Strong understanding of financial documents such as bank statements, ITRs and salary slips.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
• Good knowledge of CRM/LMS and MS Office, especially Excel.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple applications and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach.
