Job summary

Tekskills is seeking a senior Linux/infrastructure engineer with 10+ years of experience across multiple Linux distributions, kernel internals, and networking to lead complex system operations. The ideal candidate will drive automation, configuration management, and system optimization in a fast-paced environment.

You will apply scripting (Bash, Python, Perl), work with Ansible, Puppet, Chef or SaltStack, and leverage virtualization (VMware, KVM, OpenStack) along with cloud services

Qualifications

• 10+ years of Linux experience across distros (RHEL/CentOS, Ubuntu, Suse).
• Deep understanding of Linux internals: kernel, FS, processes, networking.
• Automation/configuration mgmt with Ansible, Puppet, Chef, SaltStack.
• Scripting: Bash, Python, or Perl.
• Experience with virtualization tech: VMware, KVM, OpenStack.
• Networking concepts: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, load balancing.
• Cloud platforms and containers: AWS/Azure/GCP, Docker, Kubernetes (desirable).
• Troubleshooting complex systems and root cause analysis.
• Security best practices for Linux environments.
• Strong communication and leadership; able to work independently or in team.

Required Skills & Experience

• 10+ years of extensive experience with various Linux distributions (e.g., Red Hat Enterprise Linux/CentOS, Ubuntu, SUSE).
• Deep understanding of Linux internals, including kernel, file systems, process management, and networking.
• Strong expertise in system automation and configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef, SaltStack).
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Perl.
• Extensive experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, KVM, OpenStack).
• Solid understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, Load Balancing).
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is highly desirable.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex system issues and perform root cause analysis.
• Strong understanding of security best practices for Linux environments.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
