East West Lingam Pvt Ltd in Chennai seeks a Line Quality Engineer to monitor die casting and machining quality on the shop floor. You will perform in-process and final inspections and drive continuous improvement.
The role requires 3+ years in manufacturing, knowledge of HPDC/PDC, QC tools, and calibration with instrument handling. You will support audits and maintain quality documentation while coordinating with production and maintenance.

We are seeking a detail-oriented Line Quality Engineer to monitor and ensure product quality across our High-Pressure Die Casting (HPDC) and machining production lines. The role is responsible for in-process inspection, defect control, adherence to quality standards, and driving continuous improvement on the shop floor.
Education: Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (DME) / Bachelor of Engineering (BE) in Mechanical, Production, or Industrial Engineering
Experience: Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in pressure die casting or precision machining
Sound knowledge of Pressure Die Casting (PDC/HPDC) processes, defects, and quality parameters
Hands‑on experience in handling quality instruments and gauges (Vernier, Micrometer, Height Gauge, Bore Gauge, Plug Gauge, Snap Gauge, Profile Projector, etc.)
Basic understanding of calibration procedures and frequency planning for measuring instruments
Working knowledge of QC tools (7 QC Tools – Pareto, Fishbone, Histogram, Control Charts, etc.)
Familiarity with Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA) – preferred
Awareness of ISO 9001, IATF 16949 (TS 16949), and ISO 14001 (EMS) quality and environmental management systems
Understanding of documentation, audit readiness, and non-conformance handling
Perform in-process and final inspection of die‑cast and machined components as per drawing and control plan
Monitor and record critical quality parameters on the production line; raise alerts for deviations
Conduct first‑piece, in-process, and patrol inspection at defined frequencies
Identify, segregate, and tag non‑conforming products; coordinate with production for rework or rejection
Maintain inspection reports, rejection analysis records, and quality documentation
Support root cause analysis (RCA) and implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
Ensure proper handling, storage, and calibration of measuring instruments and gauges
Coordinate with production, maintenance, and tool room teams to resolve quality issues
Support internal audits, customer audits, and certification audits (ISO / IATF / EMS)
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce rejection, rework, and customer complaints
Strong observation skills and attention to detail
Good communication and team coordination ability
Willingness to work in shifts on the shop floor
Basic computer skills (MS Excel, Word, ERP entries)
Knowledge of Tamil and English; Hindi a plus
