Job summary

GM Modular seeks a creative Facade Lighting Designer to conceptualise, design and deliver architectural lighting solutions for residential, commercial, hospitality, and landmark projects. You will work with architects, facade consultants, developers and internal teams to translate design intent into technical drawings, specifications and compelling lighting concepts.

The role requires strong visualization skills, knowledge of LED lighting systems, DMX/DALI control, and experience with lighting

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Lighting Design, Electrical Engineering, or related field; postgraduate diploma in Lighting Design is a plus.
• 2–5 years of experience in architectural or facade lighting design with a strong portfolio.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, 3ds Max and lighting simulation tools (DIALux, Relux, AGi32).
• Strong understanding of LED lighting systems, drivers, optics and control protocols (DMX, DALI, RGBW).
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and facade drawings.

Responsibilities

• Conceptualise facade and architectural lighting designs for buildings and landmarks in line with architectural vision and brand identity.
• Develop lighting design narratives, mood boards and 3D visualisations for client communication.
• Prepare lighting layout drawings, fixture schedules, wiring diagrams and technical specifications for tendering.
• Coordinate with facade consultants, MEP teams and contractors; perform photometric calculations and lighting simulations (DIALux/Relux/AGi32).
• Support installation and commissioning teams with on-site guidance and checks.

Job Summary

We are seeking a creative and technically skilled Facade Lighting Designer to conceptualise, design, and deliver architectural and facade lighting solutions for residential, commercial, hospitality, and landmark projects. The candidate will work closely with architects, facade consultants, real estate developers, and the sales and technical teams to translate design intent into compelling lighting concepts, technical drawings, and project-ready specifications using GM Modular's facade and architectural lighting portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Conceptualisation

• Conceptualise facade and architectural lighting designs for buildings, landmarks, and public/private spaces, aligning with the architectural vision and brand identity.
• Develop lighting design narratives, mood boards, and 3D visualisations to communicate design intent to clients, architects, and developers.
• Select appropriate luminaires, optics, colour temperatures, and control systems (DMX, DALI, RGBW) to achieve desired lighting effects.
• Prepare lighting layout drawings, fixture schedules, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications for tendering and execution.

Technical Coordination

• Conduct site visits and facade surveys to assess lighting requirements, mounting conditions, and power/control infrastructure.
• Coordinate with facade consultants, MEP teams, and electrical contractors to ensure seamless integration of lighting systems.
• Carry out photometric calculations and lighting simulations (e.g., DIALux, Relux, AGi32) to validate design performance.
• Support installation and commissioning teams with on-site guidance, programming of DMX/control systems, and quality checks.

Pre-Sales & Client Engagement

• Partner with the sales team during client meetings and presentations to articulate design concepts and technical feasibility.
• Prepare design proposals, BOQs, and tender documentation in coordination with the sales and estimation teams.
• Customise lighting solutions based on client briefs, project budgets, and site constraints.
• Stay updated on facade lighting trends, LED technology, and competitor offerings to keep designs current and competitive.

Project & Documentation Management

• Manage multiple facade lighting projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery of design deliverables.
• Maintain a library of design templates, fixture data sheets, and reference projects for internal use.
• Liaise with the product and procurement teams on fixture availability, customisation, and lead times.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Lighting Design, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; a postgraduate diploma in Lighting Design is a plus.
• 2 - 5 years of experience in architectural or facade lighting design, with a strong design portfolio.
• Proficiency in design and visualisation software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, 3ds Max, and lighting simulation tools (DIALux, Relux, AGi32).
• Strong technical understanding of LED lighting systems, drivers, optics, and control protocols (DMX, DALI, RGBW).
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and facade drawings.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills to articulate design concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail and deadline orientation.
