Job summary

Mandala is seeking a Lighting Designer to join our Pune team. You will carry defined parts of projects from design development through documentation, coordination and site execution, translating ideas into drawings, simulations and presentations while collaborating with architects and consultants.

We value a background in lighting design or related fields, with at least one year of experience, and a proactive approach to design authorship.

Qualifications

• A minimum of one year of relevant lighting-design experience
• Design sensitivity, technical understanding and attention to detail
• The ability to communicate ideas clearly through drawings, simulations and presentations
• An organised approach and readiness to coordinate work with increasing independence

We are looking for a Lighting Designer to join our team from Pune

The role

This role is for a designer who already has a foundation in lighting and is ready to move beyond supporting individual tasks towards taking greater responsibility for the work.

You will carry defined parts of projects from design development through documentation, coordination and site execution. You will translate ideas into drawings, simulations and presentations, work with architects and consultants, and remain involved through mock-ups, aiming and commissioning. The role marks a gradual shift from contribution towards greater ownership and design authorship.

About Us

Mandala is an independent, award-recognised lighting design studio established in New Delhi in 2006 by Manav Bhargava. Working with electric light and daylight, we approach light as a quiet narrative layer that shapes how spaces are felt, understood and remembered.

Our work spans architecture, urban environments, cultural and heritage spaces, hospitality, residences and artistic interventions. Each project brings together contextual thinking, creative inquiry and technical rigour, carrying ideas from concept through execution.

What we are looking for

• Working proficiency in AutoCAD, Photoshop and DIALux evo
