Job summary

NMDCON is seeking an experienced Mainframe Architect to lead end-to-end design, development and maintenance of Life/Asia core insurance modules such as Policy Admin, Billing and Claims.

The role focuses on COBOL, JCL and DB2/VSAM, with emphasis on performance tuning and system integration.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end solution design, development, and maintenance for Life/Asia core insurance modules on Mainframe (COBOL, JCL, DB2/VSAM).
• Translate business requirements into technical specs, analyses and integration designs.
• Own batch and online performance tuning to meet batch SLAs and windows.
• Drive production stability: triage incidents, RCA, implement fixes, enhance logging.
• Lead migration and modernization: upgrades, API enablement, and system integration.
• Establish DevSecOps practices for Mainframe: CI/CD pipelines, code quality gates, automated testing, secure coding.
• Govern change and release management with CAB readiness and rollback planning; ensure SOX compliance.
• Collaborate with Business/Product Owners to prioritise backlog and roadmaps in Agile.

Domain: Life Insurance/Insurance

• Lead end-to-end solution design, development, and maintenance for Life/Asia core insurance modules (Policy Admin, Billing, Claims, New Business), primarily on Mainframe (COBOL, JCL, DB2/VSAM).
• Translate complex business requirements into high-quality technical specifications, impact analyses, and system integration designs across upstream/downstream applications.
• Own batch and online performance tuning—optimize JCL streams, DB2 access paths, and scheduling to meet stringent batch SLAs and window constraints.
• Drive production stability: triage incidents, perform root cause analysis (RCA), implement permanent fixes, and strengthen observability and logging.
• Lead migration and modernization initiatives: version upgrades, platform changes, API enablement, and integration with surround systems (e.g., CRM, payments, data warehouse).
• Establish DevSecOps practices for Mainframe: CI/CD pipelines, code quality gates, automated testing, and secure coding standards; mentor engineers and review code.
• Govern change and release management (CAB readiness, rollback plans, data conversion strategies) and ensure audit/compliance adherence (SOX, InfoSec, regulatory).
• Partner with business to prioritize backlog, shape roadmaps, and deliver incremental value through Agile ceremonies while managing vendor partners and SOWs.
