Job description

We are looking for a librarian with a passion for learning and books to join our team.

You’ll ensure that the library runs smoothly on a daily basis. Also, some important librarian tasks you’ll undertake include developing, organizing, and updating library records.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Setting up of the library –
• Arranging the books in proper order in the library
• Create data of all the books on soft copy on the software the organisation uses
• Cataloguing library resources – books, publications, films, etc.
• Maintaining library records
• Provide customer service for library users
• Provide suggestions to library users about new books to try
• Help library users check out books
• Create an online database for easy access to members and staff
• Catalogue new inventory and update the database accordingly
• Conduct sessions for children and youth. Some ideas but not limited to:
• Story telling sessions
• Reading sessions
• Solves puzzles or play other games
• Some workshop series for both children and youth – pottery, paper mache, etc
• Research new reading trends and popular genres to add to the library

Requirements:

• Previous experience of 1 -2 years working as a librarian is preferred
• Previous experience of working with children is preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
• Comfortable working with computers and knowledge of some relevant software
