Job summary

Sterling & Wilson requires an experienced legal professional to advise management on critical legal issues and risks. The role involves drafting petitions, agreements, MOUs, JV/consortium agreements, SPAs, and SHAs, as well as negotiating and reviewing vendor/subcontractor contracts.

Responsibilities include handling litigation across geographies, coordinating with stakeholders, and developing efficient strategies for cost-effective dispute resolution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Law degree required.
• Strong legal acumen, analytical and interpretation skills.
• Good understanding of EPC contracts, service contracts and supply contracts.

Job description

Role & responsibilities

• Providing legal advisory services including advising the management and business on critical legal issues and highlighting the legal risks.
• Good drafting skills including petitions, replies, written statements, Agreements, MOUs, cooperation/ JV agreements etc.
• Experience in reviewing different types of vendor/ subcontractor-related agreements, negotiating the same with relevant stakeholders.
• Experience of reviewing and drafting transaction related documents including term sheets, JV/ consortium agreements, SPAs, SHA’s etc.
• Handling litigations across different geographies, forums, courts and coordination with the lawyers.
• Coordinating with internal stake holders to gather information/ documents in relation to litigations.
• Developing and implementing appropriate strategy to handle litigations in a efficient and cost-effective manner.
• Experience of handling arbitrations before SIAC, ICC, LCIA etc
• Providing legal support to the business division on need base during tendering phase, drafting, and negotiation of contracts.
• Support and guidance to the business team on legal aspects and general contractual issues.
• Undertaking any other legal / contracts related tasks as instructed/requested by legal department.
• Provide regular reviews and updates on the status of ongoing litigation and preparation of MIS for review by the management.

Preferred candidate profile

• University Degree in Law.
• Good legal acumen, analytical and interpretation skills.
• Good understanding of various types of contracts, EPC Contracts (FIDIC Based or other International Contract Forms), Service Contracts, Supply Contracts etc.
• Strong communication skills – English language fluency.
• Proficient ability in Computers, Microsoft word, excel and presentation skills.
• Organizational skills and flexibility to complete critical tasks on time.
• A Self Starter with ability to work with minimum supervision in a team environment.
• Ability to develop good working relationships with external lawyers, internal stake holders
