Qualifications

• LL.B./LL.M. with 8–12 years of relevant experience.
• Strong knowledge of Land, Mining, Corporate, Labour & Commercial Laws.
• Experience in land acquisition, title verification, lease agreements and property matters.
• Expertise in contract drafting, vetting, negotiation and legal documentation.
• Experience in litigation, arbitration and regulatory compliance.
• Strong government liaison, legal drafting, negotiation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Role & responsibilities

1. Legal Advisory & Risk Management

• Provide strategic and timely legal advice to senior management on mining, minerals, land acquisition, environmental compliance, corporate, and commercial matters.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate legal risks across business operations.
• Monitor legislative and regulatory developments affecting mining and mineral operations.

2. Regulatory Compliance & Government Liaison

• Ensure compliance with the Mines and Minerals (Development & Regulation) Act, environmental laws, labour laws, Companies Act, and other applicable regulations.
• Liaise with government authorities and regulatory bodies for approvals, renewals, licenses, and filings.
• Ensure adherence to corporate governance standards in coordination with the Company Secretary.

3. Contract Management & Legal Documentation

• Draft, review, negotiate, and manage contracts, MoUs, leases, licenses, joint venture agreements, and vendor contracts.
• Maintain legal documentation, contract repositories, and compliance trackers.

4. Dispute Resolution & Due Diligence

• Manage litigation, arbitration, and dispute resolution (mediation and settlements) matters with external counsels.
• Conduct legal due diligence for acquisitions, land purchases, mining leases, and expansion projects.
• Maintain litigation status reports and provide management updates.

Preferred candidate profile

• LL.B./LL.M. with 8 to 12 years of relevant experience.
• Strong knowledge of Land, Mining, Corporate, Labour & Commercial Laws.
• Experience in land acquisition, title verification, lease agreements and property matters.
• Expertise in contract drafting, vetting, negotiation and legal documentation.
