Job summary
Zensar Technologies in Pune seeks an experienced Mainframe COBOL professional to develop, enhance, debug, and optimize COBOL batch and online programs. You will work with JCL, DB2, SQL, CICS, and VSAM to deliver robust mainframe solutions for core banking processes.
Strong knowledge of COBOL, JCL, and DB2 is essential, along with experience in CICS and VSAM file handling. The role emphasizes production support, performance tuning, and modernization initiatives in a large enterprise environment.
Qualifications
- Strong hands-on experience in COBOL programming.
- Ability to develop, enhance, debug, and optimize COBOL batch and online programs.
- Expertise in JCL (Job Control Language).
- Ability to write, modify, analyze JCL and troubleshoot abends (system/program errors).
- Solid working knowledge of DB2.
- Experience with SQL queries, stored procedures, performance tuning, and DB2 data handling from COBOL.
- Experience with CICS and VSAM.
- Skilled in developing/maintaining CICS online transactions and using VSAM files (KSDS/ESDS/RRDS).

- Performance tuning and system optimization skills
- Tuning DB2 SQL, COBOL programs, and JCL job performance.
- Experience in integration and modernization projects
- API/REST integration with mainframe, migration to cloud/mainframe reengineering, or modernization tools.
