Job summary

Skills Cafe is seeking a highly creative Instructional Designer to design and build standalone, self-paced digital learning products such as microlearning, digital games, interactive video, and role-play simulations for corporate behavioral-skills development. You will own a module from concept to deployment on the LMS.

You will transform instructor-led or board-game programs into engaging digital experiences, using AI-assisted workflows.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in instructional design or digital learning content development.
• Working knowledge of e-learning authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline and Rise.
• Comfort using AI tools like Claude in content ideation and asset creation.
• Basic familiarity with LMS platforms and publishing/deploying courses.

Skills Cafe is looking for a highly creative Instructional Designer to design and build standalone, self-paced digital learning products such as microlearning, digital games, interactive video, and role-play and branching scenario simulations, primarily for corporate behavioral-skills development. You will own a module from start to finish, from concept and script, through visual and interaction design, build in authoring tools, and final deployment on the LMS.

The work is a mix of creating new content and reimagining existing instructor-led and board-game programs as engaging self-paced experiences. We use modern, AI-assisted ways of working to move quickly while keeping instructional quality high, so comfort using AI tools as part of your work is important.

Scope of the role

This is what the role entails but not limited to:

• Content writing and scripting (including dialogue)
• Storyboarding and learning-experience design
• UI and visual formulation, and interaction design
• Module build in authoring tools
• Light LMS administration on an as-needed basis

Qualifications & Experience

Must-Have-

• Experience: Around 3+ years in instructional design or digital and e-learning content development. Candidates with more experience are welcome.
• Authoring tools: Working knowledge of e-learning authoring tools such as Articulate (Storyline and Rise).
• AI tools: Comfortable using AI tools such as Claude in the content process, for scripting, ideation, and asset creation.
• LMS: Basic familiarity with LMS platforms and publishing or deploying courses.
• Writing: Strong instructional writing and scriptwriting, including dialogue for scenarios and role plays.
• Design sense: A good visual and design sense, with basic graphic skills.
• Portfolio: A portfolio of self-paced digital learning, such as microlearning, interactive modules, digital games, or interactive video.

Good to have

• Gamification and game-based learning design expereince/ bent of mind.
• Experience converting instructor-led programs into digital modules.
• Grounding in adult-learning principles and accessibility.
