Responsibilities
The Learning Experience Design & Development Specialist manages day‑to‑day planning and execution of multiple training development efforts. They ensure that projects are executed according to defined process, quality, budget, and timelines. They collaborate with cross‑functional teams to identify training needs and develop instructional materials. They design and implement instructional strategies, curricula and learning materials that align to business needs. They develop and maintain e‑learning courses, instructor‑led training materials, job aids, and other learning resources. They demonstrate knowledge of innovative learning tools and products and ensure the use of the latest technologies to deliver instructional information to an audience based on learning activity approaches that help the organization achieve its learning goals.
- Prepare design documents that meet business requirements.
- Conduct audience and needs analysis to confirm appropriateness of learning objectives.
- Present course/curriculum designs to stakeholders and SMEs to gather input and finalize.
- Facilitate content gathering from SMEs to create course designs.
- Identify learning objectives based on business drivers and performance goals; map course content to appropriate learning objectives.
- Create mockups/prototypes to support design and ideation as needed.
- Create detailed work‑plan based on budget and resource plan.
- Set expectations with the team regarding budget and course schedule.
- Manage development of course content and facilitate media requirements according to project work‑plan and schedule.
- Review training deliverables for completeness, structure, instructional approach, and visualization, writing style, compliance to standards, language and grammar, functionality and usability (e‑Learning builds).
- Manage work effort of team members to maintain scope.
- Coordinate project activities between all disciplines including media, technology, project management, client onsite or business interlock and delivery teams.
- Manage communication with client and other stakeholders throughout the development life cycle.
- Provide coaching to team members on process, quality metrics and individual development areas.
- Report status, identify potential risks and recommend mitigation.
- Provide regular feedback on team performance, suggest action items.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Education: BA/BS – Prefer degree in Instructional Design, Cognitive Psychology, English, Technical Writing, Communications or related field or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 7–8 years of working experience in training design and development.
- Practical training/learning industry experience.
- Experience in managing a team of 2–3 people.
- Basic project management experience.
- Solid knowledge of instructional design techniques, adult learning theory, and web‑based development tools.
- Ability to create high‑level and detailed designs.
- Extensive experience in at least two or more instructional approaches (web‑based, instructor‑led, or virtual instructor‑led training).
- Experience in designing digital learning approaches (videos, micro‑learning, simulations, gamified learning).
- Strong written communication skills, including working knowledge of editorial requirements, language and grammar, and attention to detail to ensure quality.
- Strong oral communication skills; ability to facilitate client SMEs and sponsor discussions to set expectations and ensure appropriate involvement.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and MS Project).
- Basic knowledge of project management tools, including work planning and resource scheduling.
- Experience working with global clients utilizing a consultative approach.
- Experience developing training solutions for a global audience.
