Job summary

Barclays is seeking a Lead Software Engineer - Network Integration in Bengaluru/Pune to drive the evolution of our digital landscape, building scalable software with Java/Spring, Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines. Qualifications

  • Java proficiency (Java 17+) and Spring ecosystem; strong SQL and NoSQL integration expertise.
  • Experience with runtime (virtualisation, containers) and test driven development.
  • Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and tooling (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI).
  • Monitoring/Observability experience with logging/tracing and integrations into open-source tools (Grafana/ELK).
  • Experience with large-scale streaming pipeline-based RCA and remediation.

Job description

Network Assurance & AI is a new engineering team within the newly formed Network OSS & Tools functional unit in the Network Product domain at Barclays. The Network Assurance & AI Engineering team is responsible for the design, build and run of the zero-touch operations, closed loop auto-remediation and AIOps capabilities for network assurance and observability of the Barclays Global Network.

To be successful in this role, you should have below skills:

  • Java Proficiency (Java 17+) and Spring Ecosystem (Spring MVC, Data JPA, Security etc) with strong SQL and NoSQL integration expertise. Strong knowledge of runtime (virtualisation, containers and Kubernetes) and expertise with test driven development.
  • Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and tooling : Github Actions, Jenkins, Gitlab CI or similar. Monitoring and Observability - logging/tracing and alerting with knowledge of integrations into opensource tooling like grafana/ELK etc.
  • Demonstrable expertise with large scale streaming pipeline-based RCA and Remediation
Some Other Highly Valued Skills May Include Below
  • Expertise building ELT pipelines and cloud/storage integrations - data lake/warehouse integrations (redshift, BigQuery, snowflake etc).
  • Expertise with security, secure coding practice and Performance Optimization - JVM tuning, performance profiling, caching, lazy loading, rate limiting and high availability in large datasets.
  • Expertise in Public, Private and Hybrid Cloud technologies (DC, AWS, Azure, GCP etc) and across broad Network domains (Fixed and Wireless)

Purpose of the role

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.

Accountabilities
  • Development and delivery of high‑quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
  • Cross‑functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
  • Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a cultureof code quality and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a cultureof technical excellence and growth.
  • Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
  • Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
