Job summary

Barclays is seeking a Senior Software Engineer – Java Full Stack & AI Assisted Engineering in Pune to drive infrastructure evolution, deployment pipelines, and secure, scalable software delivery.

You will design, develop, test, and deploy enterprise-grade applications using Java/Spring Boot, build microservices, and create responsive UIs with ReactJS. The role requires cloud-native AWS work, IaC with Terraform/CloudFormation, and strong emphasis on secure coding and observability.

Qualifications

  • Experience designing and delivering Java/Spring Boot applications.
  • Experience building microservices, REST APIs and secure architectures.
  • Experience with ReactJS/TypeScript frontends.
  • Knowledge of AWS services ECS/EKS, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, DynamoDB/RDS.
  • Familiarity with Terraform or CloudFormation for IaC.
  • Experience with CI/CD tooling and automated testing.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy enterprise-grade applications using Java and Spring Boot.

  • Evaluate emerging AI capabilities and recommend productivity improvements within engineering teams.
  • Mentor team members on AI‑enabled software engineering best practices.
  • Work closely with Product Owners, Architects, Engineering Managers, Designers, and Business Analysts.
  • Mentor junior and mid‑level engineers.
  • Contribute to sprint planning, backlog refinement, estimation, and technical leadership activities.

Purpose of the Role

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.

Accountabilities
  • Development and delivery of high‑quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
  • Cross‑functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
  • Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
  • Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
