If you like what we’re saying, keep reading!

WHY THIS ROLE IS IMPORTANT TO US

As our new Lead Software Engineer, you will joinSimCorp’sProduct Division, a full-scale agile organization. You will be working in an agile team of about 5-7 people. The team works on our SimCorp Dimension product. In your daily work you will – together with your team - understand and challenge customer requirements, discuss solutions, implement and test the chosen solution, and support it. We use a variety of tools, but the main ones are C#, APL and an Oracle database. You will mainly be working with backend and APIs.

The present and near future main topics are good maintainability, high system performance, continuous integration and delivery, and reshaping our product for the cloud.

In addition to implementing customer features, it is essential for us to continuously improve on all levels: company, division, product area, team, and individual. Your daily work life will thus also include topics such as “how can we reduce our build time”, “how can we rearchitect this component to perform significantly faster”, and “how can we work together in a more fun and effective way”.

We encourage your personal development, and you will be able to spend 20% of your time on experimenting with new technologies and implementing your ideas.

We are looking for a Lead Software Engineer to join an agile team in Portfolio Analytics Product Area.

We use a multitude of tools and technologies such as Visual Studio, C#, Dyalog APL, Azure DevOps within the areas of development and software configuration management.

What You Will Be Responsible For
  • Work with the product team to understand and refine client requirements
  • Design and implement solutions that are scalable, secure and in line with the product architecture
  • Contribute to continuous improvements to core engineering practices in the product area to ensure readable, secure, and testable code as well as effective ways of working
  • Over time, become a recognized product expert in at least one domain of our product and have the curiosity to develop knowledge in more domains.

We expect you to be good at several of the following and are interested in learning the rest.

  • Advanced C# skills and insight into the .NET framework
  • Be able to learn additional technologies (like APL)
  • Experience with developing and integrating middle and backend services and APIs
  • You are interested and able to work within the architecture of an enterprise solution
  • Actively work with improvements relating to tool stack and engineering practices (CI/CD pipelines, test-driven development, telemetry, etc)
  • You have good English skills and thrive in an international work environment
  • You have an M.Sc. in Computer Science or a similar field, or an equivalent level of experience
  • Practical experience within financial instruments and financial investment systems is of course an advantage, but not a prerequisite for the job. It is more important that you take an interest in learning this field. We will bring you up to speed using technical and domain discussions, training, and a comprehensive onboarding program.
What We Value

Most importantly, you can see yourself contributing and thriving in the position described above. How you gained the skills needed for doing that is less important. We expect you to be good at several of the following and be able to - and interested in - learning the rest.

  • Taking ownership and achieving results
  • Trying new approaches to both new and old challenges
  • Working with others to leverage the strengths of everyone in the team
  • Learning new skills and improving upon existing ones
  • Continually looking for ways to improve what we do and how we do it
Benefits
  • Global hybrid work policy - We ask you to work 2 days a week from the office. If you choose, you can work remotely the other days. Of course, you are welcome at the office if that is your preference.
  • Growth and Innovation - Every 6th sprint is reserved for planning and innovation. So, with regular intervals you have a chance to explore and learn new skills or improve something that you believe will be beneficial to you, your team or the application.
  • Self-Direction - High degree of self-organization. Each team and developer have a high degree of freedom to plan, organize and design their work.
  • Inclusive and diverse company culture
  • Work-life balance – We believe that an equilibrium between professional responsibilities makes us all the best version of ourselves, both in private life and as colleagues in the workplace
  • Empowerment – We believe that all voices are valuable and must be heard. You will be involved in shaping our work processes
