Job summary

Balasore Alloys seeks a results-driven role focused on Six Sigma and operational excellence to lead improvement initiatives across mines, plant and support functions. You will mentor Green Belts, validate savings with Finance, and own ERP/SAP, MES, and related systems from a business-user perspective.

The role requires KPI governance, dashboard creation in Power BI/Tableau/Excel, and driving data integrity while coordinating IT/IoT teams and vendors for system enhancements and rollout.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable record of delivering quantified cost and productivity improvements through structured improvement projects.
• Strong hands-on capability with SAP / ERP data, SQL, advanced Excel and a BI tool such as Power BI or Tableau.
• Working knowledge of Minitab or equivalent statistical software.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead the Six Sigma / operational excellence roadmap; identify, charter and govern DMAIC and Kaizen projects across mines, plant and support functions.
• Mentor Green Belts and project teams; validate project savings and benefits jointly with Finance.
• Own the information management systems landscape ERP / SAP modules, MES, plant historian, weighbridge, laboratory and time-office systems — from a business user standpoint.
• Define and govern the KPI framework — standard definitions, calculation logic, data sources and reporting frequency — to establish a single source of truth across departments.
• Design, build and maintain management dashboards and MIS in Power BI / Tableau / Excel for daily, weekly and monthly business reviews.
• Drive data governance and data integrity — master data standards, validation rules, reconciliation between systems and periodic data audits.
• Lead digitisation and automation of manual registers, reports and workflows; eliminate duplicate data entry and shorten reporting cycle time.
• Gather requirements from user departments, prepare functional specifications, and coordinate with the IT / IoT teams and external vendors on system enhancements, testing and rollout.
• Drive system integration between operational systems (production, dispatch, maintenance, quality, HR) and the ERP.
• Deploy statistical tools — control charts, process capability studies, regression and root cause analysis — to convert data into improvement action.
• Standardise SOPs and best practices across sections and build organisational capability through training in quality tools, problem solving and system usage.

Preferred candidate profile

• Demonstrable record of delivering quantified cost and productivity improvements through structured improvement projects.
• Strong hands-on capability with SAP / ERP data, SQL, advanced Excel and a BI tool such as Power BI or Tableau.
• Working knowledge of Minitab or equivalent statistical software.
• Experience in mining, ferroalloy, steel, cement or a comparable heavy industry is preferred.
• Strong influencing and communication skills — able to drive change and system adoption through line functions without direct authority.
