Lead SCADA Specialist
Reporting to Associate Director: Construction Delivery & Execution Location Johannesburg, South Africa
Position Purpose
The Lead SCADA Specialist is responsible for the development, design, installation, testing, operation, maintenance and cybersecurity of SCADA systems associated with PV, Wind and BESS projects.
Responsibilities
- Develop, and update SCADA employer requirements (ERs) for projects.
- Contribute to the SCADA system design process to ensure compliance to ERs, standards and project requirements.
- Support grid code compliance functions during the construction and operations phase of projects.
- Monitor and maintain SCADA systems for PV, Wind and BESS facilities.
- Ensure continuous availability of SCADA servers, HMI, databases, historians, and communication networks.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on SCADA hardware and software.
- Monitor plant performance, alarms, and operational data.
- Investigate and resolve SCADA system faults and communication issues at operational facilities.
- Implement cybersecurity measures and manage user access controls for Operations Technology
Person Specification
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 10 years of experience in SCADA systems, including utility-scale PV, Wind or BESS projects.
- Proven experience in Commissioning/Configuration of Control and relay panels.
- Experience in gateway FAT, SAT and SCADA signal list testing and functionality testing.
- BSc, B.Eng, BEng Tech, B.Tech or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
Related/Technical Skills
- Knowledge of SCADA platforms such as Wonderware, Ignition, WinCC, Zenon, Power SCADA, etc.
- SCADA system design, implementation, commissioning, operation and maintenance management.
- Knowledge of gateway FAT and SAT procedures and requirements
- Knowledge of SCADA functionality grid code compliance requirements
- Good investigation and analysis skills.
