Job summary

GE Vernova, Inc. in Chennai region seeks an experienced engineering leader to drive complex projects across Marine VCS, DP, Power Systems, and Drive Controls. You will provide technical leadership, coordinate global project planning, and ensure high-quality deliverables aligned with India business goals.

You will partner with global P&Ls, work with ITO/CTH teams on reviews, and mentor engineers to build best-in-class capability within the India organization.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate technical aspects of large projects with complex architecture and high business impact.
• Produce designs, specifications and docs for systems and equipment (generators, switchboards, transformers, converters, motors, energy storage).
• Execute design, analysis, or evaluation of projects following engineering standards and program requirements.
• Drive lean methodology to provide optimal technical solutions.
• Provide Marine domain consulting to lead engineers and customers.
• Support technology road maps and provide domain process direction to engineering teams.
• Review deliverables with the ITO team during proposals and bids.
• Analyze technical proposals with the CTH team and identify risks with mitigation actions.
• Support sales in technical presentations and align customer requirements with GE capabilities.
• Collaborate with project management to increase project margins.
• Interface with Sourcing for supplier conformance and assist in validating key deliverables.
• Work with hiring to fill skill gaps and develop talents.
• Collaborate with customers to resolve issues and perform RCA’s for better customer experience.
• Stay updated with industry trends and developments.

Job Description Summary

This role involves leading projects and initiatives with broad scope and high impact to the business. The role will provide opportunity to contribute to the overall Engineering management of complex projects with scope for Marine VCS, DP, Power Systems, Drive Controls and other advanced applications provided by GE Power Conversion business. The selected candidate will be part of a strong engineering team and provide the technical leadership aligned with the India region.

This role also involves partnering with global P&Ls for effective planning and execution of global projects; having close focus on quality of deliverables and in developing the best-in-class capability at India business across Marine segment.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

• Responsible for leading and coordinating technical aspects of larger projects with complex architecture that have huge impact on the business.


• Produce designs, specifications and documentation for systems and supporting equipment, including generators, switchboards, transformers, converters, motors, energy storage, cabling etc.


• Execute design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements


• Drive lean methodology to provide optimum technical solutions for the projects.


• To demonstrate domain expertise in Marine to provide consulting solutions to the lead engineers in projects as well as to the customers.


• Support the leadership team in the development of technology road maps in response to future business opportunities and strategy, while providing direction and a domain process viewpoint to the Engineering teams.


• To work closely with ITO team to provide oversight and reviews of deliverables in the proposal/bid phase.


• To work closely with CTH team to analyze the technical proposals and identify the risks along with the mitigation actions without compromising on the customer expectations.


• To support sales team in providing technical presentations to the customers for winning larger orders thereby enhancing the business and also to review customer requirements and highlighting differences/gaps between those requirements and GE capabilities.

• To work closely with project management in increasing the project margins.


• Interface with Sourcing and Purchasing to ensure suppliers products are meeting specifications.


• To support engineering team in validating the key deliverables in the projects to ensure the quality.


• To work closely with managers in hiring the right resources, filling the skill-set gaps and developing the talents.


• To work closely with customers to resolve their ongoing issues, perform RCA’s and implement corrective actions for a better customer experience.


• Keeping up to date with Industry trends and developments.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or a related field with 15 years of experience.


• Excellent technical, diagnostic, and troubleshooting skills.


• Strong leadership and organizational abilities.


• Willingness to build professional relationships with colleagues and customers.


• Basic and detailed engineering for Marine / Oil&Gas project execution.
