Job summary

HCLTech Bengaluru is seeking an experienced Network Engineer to design and maintain our revamped network infrastructure, focusing on performance and reliability. The role involves troubleshooting, configuring across Linux/Windows environments and IP networking to support business objectives.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years of experience, strong vendor tools knowledge, and hands-on experience with Cisco devices, firewall management, and patching. Immediate notice period preferred.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in network engineering/infrastructure
• Graduate or postgraduate in CS/IT/Electronics or related field
• Certifications like CCNA/CCNP desirable

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, and access points across the enterprise network.
• Backup and restore network devices to ensure business continuity.
• Monitor devices using ManageEngine OpManager and other tools like Nagios/SolarWinds.
• Allocate and manage bandwidth across network segments.
• Assist in network/security hardware/software refresh and configuration.
• Manage firewall operations (15 firewalls) and ensure security compliance.
• Maintain Cisco Routers, Switches and Access Points.
• Apply patches with ManageEngine Patch Manager Plus.
• Use ITSM tools (BMC Helix, ServiceNow) for incidents, changes, problems.
• Respond to high-priority incidents/outages promptly.
• Participate in Change and Problem Management processes.
• Maintain detailed configuration/incident documentation and SOPs.
• Work in a 24x7 service window with rotational shifts.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining and intermittently improving our current network configuration and infrastructure. You will design our revamped network infrastructure with the goal of maximizing our network performance. You will also provide troubleshooting and configuration support by using your strong technical skills in Linux and Windows environments and IP networking.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, and access points across the enterprise network.
• Perform backup and restoration of network devices to ensure business continuity.
• Monitor network devices using ManageEngine OpManager and other tools like Nagios or SolarWinds.
• Allocate and manage bandwidth (B/W) across network segments.
• Assist in network or security hardware/software refresh, including setup and configuration.
• Manage firewall operations (15 firewalls) and ensure security compliance.
• Maintain and monitor Cisco Routers, Cisco Switches and Cisco Access Points
• Apply patching using ManageEngine Patch Manager Plus for network devices.
• Utilize ITSM tools such as BMC Helix or ServiceNow for incident, change, and problem management.
• Respond promptly to high-priority incidents and outages, ensuring quick resolution and minimal downtime.
• Participate in Change Management and Problem Management processes for network updates and recurring issues.
• Maintain detailed documentation for configurations, procedures, and incident resolutions.
• Knowledge management – Creation/Modification of SOP/KBs
• Work in a 24x7 service window with rotational shifts.

Technical Requirements:

• Networking Devices: Cisco Routers, Switches, Access Points, SD WAN
• Security: Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) administration, including policy profiling and posturing experience) Firewall policies, access control, compliance standards,
• Firewall Management: GAIA Application Firewall Administration and management, Palo Alto (via Panorama) and other enterprise firewalls
• Patch Management: ManageEngine Patch Manager Plus or any similar tool
• ITSM Tools: BMC Helix, ServiceNow
• Protocols: TCP/IP, VLAN, VPN, SNMP

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certifications: CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent
• Experience with Panorama for firewall management
• Familiarity with network security best practices
• Knowledge of cloud networking (AWS/Azure) is a plus

Education Qualification:

Graduate/Postgraduate in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, or related field.
