Job summary

SRM Technologies is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in Chennai. The role focuses on designing components across stamping, plastics, and machining processes, leveraging CATIA, Creo and SolidWorks to create 3D models, drawings, and assemblies.

The ideal candidate will have 4–7 years of relevant experience, strong GD&T and tolerance stack-up skills, and hands-on experience with PDM/PLM.

Qualifications

• Design experience in components with stamping, plastic molding and machining.
• Proficient in CATIA, Creo and SolidWorks for 3D modeling and drawings.
• Hands-on experience with PDM/PLM for component lifecycle.
• Strong GD&T knowledge and tolerance stack-up analysis.
• Knowledge of DFMEA and risk identification in design.
• DFMA/DFM concepts for plastics and sheet metal manufacturing.
• Experience with NPIs/NPD processes and compliance awareness.
• Excellent communication and ability to present to leadership.

Requirements:

• Experience in design of components with various manufacturing processes like, Stamping, Plastic Molding & Machining.
• Proficient in Catia, Creo & SolidWorks CAD software (Creating 3D models, Sheet Metal, 2D drawing and Assembly)
• Hands on experience in PDM / PLM for managing lifecycle of the components.
• Experience in Geometric Dimension & Tolerancing (GD&T)
• Knowledge in Tolerance stack up analysis.
• Strong knowledge in manufacturability considerations for Plastic & Sheetmetal
• Knowledge on DFMEA and identify relevant product risks.
• Identifying the suitable material, apply DFM/DFA concepts in design and familiar with latest engineering design and methods, tools, and processes.
• Experience with standard NPI / NPD process. Understanding of compliance requirements.
• Ability to present and articulate ideas to key stakeholders and leadership team.
• Excellent communication skills and Positive ‘can do’ and proactive attitude.
• Quality mindset in design and documentation.
