Job summary

Larsen & Toubro in Chennai invites a Lead Engineer – Mechanical with deep Water, Effluent and Sewage treatment knowledge to lead tendering and detail engineering stages. You will guide a team of mechanical engineers, oversee piping, hydraulics modelling, and equipment evaluation, coordinating with consultants and clients for approvals.

The role requires 12-15 years in mechanical engineering, including leadership exposure, and familiarity with international codes.

Qualifications

• B.Tech (Mechanical) with 12-15 years in Mechanical engg, incl. 3-5 years in leadership.
• Advanced knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, codes such as ASME/BS EN/ISO/QCS/NWC.
• Proficiency in plant engineering: layout, GA drawings, piping/layout drawings.
• Advanced hydraulics & transient analysis with WaterGEMS/WaterHammer/SAP.
• Experience reviewing hydraulics/transient analyses and CAESAR II stress analysis.
• Participation in workshops like HAZOP with client/consultant.
• Vendor engineering: reviewing offers, technical comparisons, and post-order review.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to mentor.
• Innovative mindset for design optimization and continuous improvement.

with Water, Effluent & Sewage treatment plant knowledge, shall be able to perform the roles and responsibilities as below for tendering as well as detail engineering stage

• Lead and mentor a team of Mechanical Engineers
• Lead the design development of Mechanical component in Desalination, Water, Effluent & Sewage treatment projects
• Planning of engineering deliverables, execution, resource planning and allocation
• Collaborate with other discipline for proper integration of mechanical system
• Design deliverable review and validation

Candidate should have hands on experience in Water, Effluent & Sewage treatment plant, Transmission & distribution pipeline projects in Middle east and Africa region. Core responsibility shall be to lead a team of mechanical engineers interacting with consultant and client for approval of engineering deliverables and Material submittals. Should have experience in dealing with international vendors for various mechanical equipment evaluation and selection.

Qualification

• B.Tech (Mechanical) as minimum with Experience of 12-15 years in Mechanical engineering with at least 3-5 years in leadership role.
• Advance knowledge of Mechanical engineering principles, best practices and various international codes i.e. ASME / BS EN / ISO / QCS / NWC etc.
• Proficiency in Plant engineering for preparation of plant layout, GA drawing, Piping layout, Pipeline drawings etc.
• Advance knowledge of hydraulics & transient analysis through WaterGEMS / WaterHammer / SAP software.
• Handon experience in reviewing the Hydraulics / transient analysis reports, Stress analysis reports (CAESAR II) etc.
• Participation in various workshops e.g. HAZOP etc. with client and consultant
• Proficient in Vendor engineering by reviewing vendor offer, technical comparison with recommendation to Procurement team for mechanical equipment and detailed review of post order documents
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to mentor and develop team members
• Innovative mindset for design optimization and continuous improvement

Preferable Industry Experience: Water & Effluent treatment, Oil & Gas industries etc.
