Job summary

Staples India leads Infrastructure team and seeks a Lead Infrastructure Engineer - Enterprise Backup to design, implement and support NetBackup across on‑prem and hybrid/cloud. You will drive DR planning, backup policies, and performance optimization while ensuring high availability and SLA adherence.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with virtualization, cloud, and application teams, and contribute to architecture diagrams and SOPs for enterprise backup services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 8-10 years of experience in enterprise backup engineering.
• Hands-on Veritas NetBackup (including Flex appliance) administration and architecture
• Backup & recovery concepts (replication, deduplication, retention)
• Experience supporting production environments with high availability and SLA requirements
• Shift timings 3 pm to 11 pm Indian Standard Time

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and administer Veritas NetBackup (including Flex Appliances).

• Perform restore validations, DR testing, and backup audits.

• Drive service reliability improvements and prevent recurring issues.

The Lead Infrastructure Engineer - Enterprise Backup isresponsible for the design, implementation, and operational support of EnterpriseBackup & data protection platforms, with a focus on Veritas NetBackup andFlex. This role ensures high availability, performance optimization, andresiliency of backup services across on‑prem and hybrid/cloud environments.

Primary Responsibilities

Backup & Recovery (NetBackup)

• Design, implement, and administer Veritas NetBackup (including Flex Appliances).

Capacity Planning & Performance Optimization

• Monitor Backup utilization andforecast growth requirements.

• Plan and execute storageexpansion and refresh activities.
  

Automation, Compliance & Documentation

• Automate backup operations usingscripting (PowerShell, Python).
  
• Maintain technical documentation,SOPs, and architecture diagrams.
  
• Ensure compliance with security,governance, and regulatory requirements.
  
• Partner with cloud,virtualization, database, and application teams to deliver integratedsolutions.
  
• Provide technical leadershipand mentoring to junior engineers.
  
• Act as SME for enterprise backuptechnologies.
  

Requirements

Basic Qualifications
