Job summary

LPL Financial Global Capability Center in Hyderabad seeks a Junior Storage and Backup Infrastructure Engineer to deliver Tier1/2 support for storage and backup environments. You will focus on reliability, security, and performance while collaborating with cross‑functional teams to minimize outages.

Responsibilities include managing SAN/NAS and cloud storage, implementing data protection and disaster recovery, and maintaining backup integrity across Cohesity and Veritas NetBackup.

Qualifications

• 3-4 years of storage and backup engineering or administration experience.
• 2-3 years with NetApp, Dell EMC, Pure, Infinidat and cloud storage technologies.
• 2-3 years with enterprise backup software such as Cohesity and Veritas NetBackup.
• 2-3 years experience with virtualization platforms like VMware vSphere.
• 2-3 years with storage protocols including Fibre Channel, NFS, SMB/CIFS, S3, and iSCSI.
• 1-2 years with automation tools and scripting languages such as PowerShell or Python.
• 1-2 years with Windows and Linux/Unix system administration.
• 1-2 years with ticketing systems such as ServiceNow or Jira.

Responsibilities

• Implement, manage and optimize storage solutions including SAN/NAS and cloud storage environments.
• Monitor performance and capacity; forecast needs and perform tuning.
• Administer large-scale storage arrays with zoning, LUN provisioning and volume management.
• Troubleshoot storage issues and ensure data integrity.
• Perform routine maintenance and patching of storage hardware and software.
• Decommission old hardware and re-purpose resources.
• Manage backup and recovery using Cohesity, NetBackup and related tools.
• Ensure data protection policies meet compliance requirements.
• Conduct data restores and test backup integrity.
• Handle escalations for Tier 1 issues.

Storage and Backup Infrastructure Junior Engineer is responsible for delivering advanced Tier1/ Tier 2 support for the organization’s storage and backup environments. This role is focused on ensuring the reliability, security, and optimal performance of critical storage and backup systems by proactively monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving complex technical issues. The engineer works closely with cross-functional teams to minimize service interruptions and maintain high data availability and integrity. Key responsibilities include managing and optimizing enterprise storage arrays, backup solutions, and related infrastructure, as well as implementing best practices for data protection and disaster recovery. By maintaining and enhancing the storage and backup landscape, the T2 – Storage and Backup Infrastructure Support Engineer plays an essential role in supporting business continuity and safeguarding organizational data assets.

Responsibilities

• Implement and manage storage solutions. Design, deploy, and maintain Storage Area Network (SAN), Network-Attached Storage (NAS), and cloud storage environments to meet company needs.
• Monitor performance and capacity. Track storage system performance and utilization to identify bottlenecks and forecast future capacity needs. Implement performance tuning to optimize efficiency.
• Administer storage arrays. Configure and manage large-scale storage arrays, including tasks like zoning, LUN provisioning, and volume management.
• Troubleshoot storage issues. Diagnose and resolve complex storage-related problems, including connectivity issues, performance degradation, and data integrity errors.
• Perform routine maintenance. Conduct system maintenance, upgrades, and patching for storage hardware, operating systems, and related software.
• Decommission hardware. Handle the lifecycle of storage equipment, including decommissioning old hardware and re-purposing existing resources.
• Manage backup and recovery systems. Administer enterprise backup software, like Cohesity, Veritas NetBackup, including scheduling and maintaining backup jobs.
• Ensure data integrity. Implement and enforce data protection and retention policies to meet compliance regulations.
• Restore data. Conduct data recovery operations and perform routine restore tests to validate the integrity of backups.
• Troubleshoot backup failures. Investigate and resolve failed backup jobs or performance issues.
• Handle escalations. Act as a point of escalation for complex issues that Tier 1 support cannot resolve.

Requirements

• 2-3 years experience in virtualization platforms like VMware vSphere or other hypervisors.
• 2-3 years of experience with storage protocols, including Fibre Channel, NFS, SMB/CIFS, S3, and iSCSI
• 1-2 years of experience with automation tools and scripting languages such as PowerShell or Python to streamline tasks and troubleshoot complex issues.
• 1-2 years of experience with system administration for Windows and Linux/Unix environments
• 1-2 years of experience with ticketing systems: Familiarity with help desk or ticketing software such as ServiceNow or JIRA, for tracking and managing technical cases.
