Job summary

UST is seeking a skilled Software Engineer – Java Backend with 5–7 years of experience to design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications. You will work on production‑grade microservices and APIs, leveraging Java 21+ with Spring Boot, AWS, and OpenSearch/Elasticsearch.

Collaboration with backend, frontend, and DevOps teams is essential to deliver robust, scalable services. You will implement RESTful APIs, apply OOP and design patterns, and participate in CI/CD pipelines using GitLab.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of backend Java experience.
• Strong hands-on expertise in Java 21+, Spring Boot, and AWS.
• Experience with NoSQL databases and search technologies.
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs and microservices design.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable microservices and RESTful APIs using Java and Spring Boot.
• Build production-grade backend services following REST API design best practices.
• Work with AWS services, including SSM Parameter Store.
• Develop solutions using NoSQL databases such as ScyllaDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB.
• Implement search capabilities using OpenSearch/Elasticsearch.
• Collaborate with backend, frontend, and DevOps teams.
• Participate in GitLab CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments.
• Apply strong knowledge of OOP and design patterns.
• Develop unit and integration tests using JUnit/Mockito.

We are looking for a skilled Software Engineer – Java Backend with 5–7 years of experience in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend applications. The ideal candidate should have strong hands‑on expertise in Java 21+, Spring Boot, AWS, NoSQL databases, RESTful APIs, and search technologies such as OpenSearch/Elasticsearch.

The role involves building production‑grade microservices and APIs while collaborating closely with backend, frontend, and DevOps teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable microservices and RESTful APIs using Java and Spring Boot.
• Build production-grade backend services following REST API design best practices.
• Work with AWS services, including configuration management using AWS Systems Manager (SSM) Parameter Store.
• Develop solutions using NoSQL databases such as ScyllaDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB, or equivalent.
• Implement search capabilities using OpenSearch and/or Elasticsearch.
• Work with Spring Data JPA and persistence frameworks.
• Participate in GitLab CI/CD pipelines, merge request workflows, and automated deployments.
• Apply strong knowledge of OOP and creational design patterns in application development.
• Implement robust error‑handling strategies and HTTP request/response lifecycles.
• Develop unit and integration tests using JUnit, Mockito, and related Java testing frameworks.
• Collaborate effectively with backend, frontend, and DevOps teams.
• Independently drive assigned tasks, proactively identify blockers, and recommend solutions.
