Job summary

Kumaran Systems is seeking a detail-oriented Functional QA Engineer to ensure quality across web applications. You will perform manual and automated testing, design test plans, and collaborate with developers, product managers, and designers in an Agile environment.

You will automate with Playwright and Python, validate APIs, and perform SQL validations across UI, microservices, and backend layers while contributing to CI/CD integration. Strong Angular/TypeScript familiarity is preferred.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in manual testing.
• Hands-on automation with Playwright + Python is mandatory.
• Strong API testing using Postman or REST API tools.
• SQL-based database validation and data integrity checks.
• Experience testing UI, microservices, and backend layers.
• Understanding of STLC, defect lifecycle, and Agile methodology.
• Angular, TypeScript, RxJS knowledge to write precise selectors.
• CI/CD pipeline integration for automated test execution.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute test plans, test cases, and checklists for functional, regression, smoke, integration, and exploratory testing.
• Develop and maintain automated test scripts using Playwright + Python following the Page Object Model.
• Perform end-to-end testing of Angular-based SPAs.
• Validate REST APIs using Playwright, Postman, or similar tools.
• Perform database validation using SQL queries to verify backend data integrity.
• Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions / Azure DevOps / Jenkins).
• Log clear, reproducible bug reports with steps, screenshots, and logs; track through resolution via Jira/Azure DevOps.
• Perform cross-browser and cross-platform testing to ensure consistent UI behavior.
• Actively participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies sprint planning, grooming, and retrospectives.

Role Overview

We are looking for a detail-oriented and technically proficient Functional QA Engineer to join our growing engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of our web applications through both manual and automated testing. You will work closely with developers, product managers, and designers to deliver high-quality software that meets functional and business requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Design and execute test plans, test cases, and checklists covering functional, regression, smoke, integration, and exploratory testing

Develop and maintain automated test scripts using Playwright + Python following the Page Object Model (POM) pattern

Perform end-to-end testing of Angular-based Single Page Applications (SPAs)

Validate REST APIs using Playwright API testing, Postman, or similar tools

Perform database validation using SQL queries to verify backend data integrity

Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions / Azure DevOps / Jenkins)

Log clear, reproducible bug reports with steps, screenshots, and logs; track through resolution via Jira / Azure DevOps

Perform cross-browser and cross-platform testing to ensure consistent UI behavior

Required Skills & Experience

5+ years of experience in Manual Testing

Hands-on experience automating tests using Playwright + Python (Mandatory)

Solid understanding of API Testing Postman / REST Assured / similar tools

Working knowledge of SQL for database validation

Experience testing across UI, Microservices, and Backend/DB layers

Good understanding of STLC, Defect Lifecycle, and Agile Methodology

Familiarity with Angular, TypeScript, and RxJS to understand front-end behavior and write precise test selectors

Experience with CI/CD pipeline integration for automated test execution
