CONVERGIX Automation Solutions in Chennai, India seeks a Lead Engineer - Simulation with deep expertise in virtual commissioning and digital twin development. The role requires 3–5 years in virtual commissioning and robotics simulation, with strong leadership and client communication.

Qualifications

• Postgrad qualifications in Robotics/Automation or Digital Manufacturing are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Virtual commissioning: digital twin development, IO mapping and controls debugging.
• Simulation Development: build/refine simulation cells using Visual Components, Emulate 3D or Process Simulate; optimize robot paths and validate cycle times.
• Project briefing and prioritization; align deliverables with client timelines.
• Lead team stand-ups to address blockers and share updates with the Simulation Engineering team.
• Communicate with clients via calls and email; clarify requirements and present interim results.
• Analyze BOMs and CAD layouts to ensure simulation accuracy.
• Tackle technical challenges and bottlenecks in material flow using DES tools.
• Collaborate with design, control and manufacturing teams to validate tooling and configurations.
• Mentor junior engineers; review models and provide feedback; identify training needs.
• Update simulation documentation, test results and user guides.
• Prepare client demos or simulation reports with insights and recommendations.

The Role

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Lead Engineer Simulation, who is highly experienced in Virtual Commissioning to join our advanced manufacturing and automation team. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with deep expertise virtual commissioning, including digital twin development, IO mapping, and controls debugging, robotic simulation, process optimization, and digital manufacturing technologies. As a key technical leader, you will drive innovation, lead high-impact simulation projects, and collaborate closely with global clients to deliver cutting-edge solutions. Key Responsibilities

• Virtual commissioning: digital twin development, IO mapping and controls debugging
• Simulation Development: Dive into Visual components, Emulate 3D or Process Simulate to build or refine simulation cells. This includes robot path optimization, cycle time validation, and layout finalization.
• Project Briefing & Prioritization: Start the day reviewing project timelines, simulation goals, and client feedback. Sync with project managers to align on deliverables.
• Team Huddle: Lead effective and efficient stand-up meetings with the Simulation Engineering team to address blockers, and share updates.
• Client Communication: Lead calls and liaise with clients via email - especially those in North Americato clarify requirements or present interim results.
• Data Analysis: Analyze BOMs, mathematical data, and CAD layouts to ensure simulation accuracy and feasibility.
• Problem Solving: Tackle technical challenges including reachability issues or bottlenecks in material flowusing discrete event simulation tools like FlexSim or Plant Simulation.
• Cross-Functional Meetings: Collaborate with design, control and manufacturing teams to validate tooling, gun configurations, and spot allocations.
• Mentorship & Review: Mentor and support junior engineers, reviewing their models, and providing feedback. Identify training needs and support skill development.
• Documentation: Update simulation documentation, including data sheets, test results, and user guides for internal and client use.
• Client Demos or Reports: Prepare for client presentations or submit simulation reports with insights and recommendations.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

• Bachelors degree (B.E. or B Tech) in Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, or Mechatronics.
• Postgraduate qualifications or certifications in Robotics, Automation, or Digital Manufacturing are a plus.
• Industry Experience:
  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience in virtual commissioning, robotic simulation, automation, and digital manufacturing
  • Experience of consistently delivering high-impact solutions across automotive, industrial automation, and manufacturing sectors.
  • A strong understanding of North American standards and global client expectations, evidenced by a proven ability to lead complex simulation projects from concept to execution.
  • Practical expertise in deploying and optimizing Fanuc and ABB robotic systems, ensuring seamless integration and performance in real-world applications.
