Job summary

Eaton is seeking an experienced Product Engineer to provide expert product knowledge and bridge design with manufacturing and design authorities. The role emphasizes failure analysis, continuous improvement, and documentation control to support plant metrics and cost-out initiatives.

Ideal candidates hold a BE in Mechanical/Aerospace with 9+ years of hands-on engineering experience, including CAD, GD&T, DFSS, and PDM systems, and are adept at multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide product knowledge and act as a bridge between plant, sites and authorities.
• Engineer reviews, root-cause analysis, failure reports, and drive corrective actions.
• Drive quality, safety, delivery and inventory through engineering actions.
• Update documentation and facilitate CRs and COs.
• Lead design and configuration improvements; apply DFSS and project scope activities.
• Support engineering standards, process improvements, and 5S.
• Participate in continuous improvement for Conveyance product lines.
• Support cost-out initiatives and cross-department collaboration.
• Serve as engineering conformance contact for changes and requests.
• Contribute to STP activities including test plans, procedures, and reports.
• Collaborate with Sales on new opportunities and PE deliverables.

Job Description:

What you’ll do:

• Provide product knowledge and expertise to the assigned plant as well as being a bridge between the assigned plant and the sending sites/design authorities through product expertise (including Eaton and industry standards) and in-depth knowledge of local capabilities.
• Support quick response to customer needs through providing engineering review of customer requests, working with other functions to determine failure root cause of returned material, producing failure analysis reports, and other activities as needed.
• Work in team environment to meet plant driven metrics for quality, safety, delivery, performance, and inventory through completion of product engineering actions including drawing error resolution, AEV reduction/elimination, DMR closure, SRR creation/review, ensuring adherence to ACES documents, and SMRR processing.
• Update engineering documentation as needed including facilitation of CR’s and CO’s.
• Lead problem solving activities and projects involving design and configuration of existing product. These may be initiated out of the continuous improvement teams, customer returns, supply chain issues, etc. Project scope may include redesign, change management, qualification test plan development and execution. Apply statistical and analytical tools towards effective problem-solving and completion of project activities.
• Support functional goals such as the review of engineering standards, engineering process improvements, and 5S.
• Participate on continuous improvement teams for the assigned plant’s Conveyance product lines as product engineering representative.
• Champion product engineering driven cost out and support supply chain projects for all product lines to meet annual cost out targets. Provide design and product engineering support for cost out initiatives driven from other departments such as manufacturing and supply chain.
• Serve as a contact for buyers on issues requiring engineering conformance review to requirements, change requests, clarifications, etc.
• Participate in STP activities including creation of test plans, test procedures, TRA’s, sample preparation oversight, test reports, PRI submissions, etc.
• Work with Sales on new opportunities and complete PE deliverables for assigned B&P activities.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Engineering ( Mechanical/ Aerospace )
• Minimum 9 Years with hands on experience.

Skills:

• Proficiency in CAD (CATIA V5 preferred)
• Exposure to Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
• Experience in Hose Assembly
• Knowledge of fluid conveyance related products, manufacturing techniques and materials
• Familiarity with Product Data Management (PDM) systems for documentation control and workflow management
• Familiarity with continuous improvement tools such as value stream mapping, Kaizen, etc.
• Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) background.
• Write test procedures and qualification reports in support of project deliverables.
• Participate in new product development design reviews. Provide input from day-to-day experience. Learn from lead engineers for personal development for future roles.

• A good candidate must have strong organization and communication skills while being able to effectively handle multiple tasks simultaneously including tactical tasks when embedded on fast response teams as well as strategic projects.
