Job summary

Bloom Engineering in Bengaluru, Karnataka, seeks a senior mechanical test engineer to coordinate testing of mechanical component and sub-system designs. You will define test requirements, develop test equipment, and work with engineering and suppliers to validate concepts and validate test plans.

You will lead lab setups, manage equipment, mentor team members, collaborate with external labs, and ensure adherence to quality and compliance while travel is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from a reputed institute.
• Minimum 6+ years in mechanical design, development and validation, preferably automotive.
• Experience in program management and lab capability development.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical testing, fundamentals, and validation processes.
• Experience with lab data acquisition, test instrumentation, and industrial lab environments.
• Familiarity with accelerometers, strain gauges, thermocouples, load cells, microphones.
• Excellent written and verbal technical communication.
• Willingness to travel as required.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop scalable test setups and fixtures in the lab in line with product validation requirements.
• Provide strategic leadership to grow lab capabilities.

Role Summary/Purpose

Role is to Coordinate testing of Mechanical component/sub system designs, define test requirements and equipment needed, work with engineering, suppliers on design and Development of test equipment /test Systems, determine conditions under which tests are to be conducted and procedures to be Followed, perform special and non-standard tests.

Essential Responsibilities

• Design and develop innovative, scalable, flexible and test set ups, Test fixtures in the lab, Consistent with the Validation requirements of the product design teams.
• Strategic Leadership - Drive innovative, scalable, flexible and diverse set ups in the lab to grow capabilities consistent with business vision.
• Coach and mentor the resources on the Validation and build capability.
• Collaborate with external labs to leverage their capabilities for validations.
• Responsible for coordinating with suppliers, qualification of critical component suppliers, understand/Develop quality assurance plans, verification of the components supplied and ensure quality standards are accordance with the requirements of the organization.
• Work with Engineering Teams in converting engineering requirements into a test plan and execute the same per the schedule/quality expected.
• Provide Build Estimates, Duration as input to planning Process.
• Hold design reviews for test plans & procedures, test results reviews and Document test results.
• Work closely with site cross functional teams of EHS, Facilities, Compliance, Import/Export, Logistics etc to enable the execution of Test plans as per schedule
• Prepare invention disclosures to protect the technology that provides a competitive advantage to the business

Qualifications/Requirements

• Bachelors/Master s degree in Mechanical engineering discipline from institute of repute
• Min. 6 Plus years experience in mechanical design, development and validation, preferably in the field of automotive / large bore engines.
• Experience in Program management, preferably in developing lab capabilities
• Demonstrated expertise in Mechanical system /sub system/ component validations
  Strong understanding of Mechanical testing domain, Engineering fundamentals and the application of the same.
• Experience/familiarity in a lab environment with data acquisition systems, test instrumentation, industrial test laboratory environments and procedures.
• Experience with sensors including accelerometers, strain gages, thermocouples, load cells, and microphones and transducers.

• Strong interpersonal skills
