Responsibilities
- As a Lead Electrical Engineer, you shall be responsible for the design and delivery of all electrical and associated ELV systems of a wide range of projects in the building services.
- Project and technical leadership; team motivation; training and development; developing and guiding engineers and/or design team.
- Applying policies relating to health & safety, quality and training.
- Act as PM on selected projects by managing the successful delivery of high quality single and multi-disciplinary projects.
- Project manage and supervise teams to deliver high quality discipline projects in accordance with corporate and client requirements.
- Develop a thorough design philosophy, contributing to inception, development and detailed delivery of projects across all stages.
- Coordinate and liaise with all design team members, including architects, structural engineers, clients, project managers and QS.
- Regular reviews of key projects; engage with clients and partners to gather feedback and deliver service improvement initiatives.
- Attend external meetings and prepare design presentations and design reports.
- Collaborate with remote design teams on middle east projects to ensure compliance with local requirements and satisfactory performance of their services.
- Provide electrical engineering technical support and engage personally to enable Local Authorities’ approvals.
- Support client and sustainability sub-consultants in studies, calculations and reports for sustainability options.
- Mentor and coach junior and graduate engineers; check and review electrical design work as necessary.
- Ensure the correctness, accuracy and coordination of the design documentation in accordance with QA/QC processes.
- Maintain knowledge of buildability, construction techniques, procurement routes, risk assessment and claim assessment.
- Forecast, plan and manage own and team workload; monitor and control electrical design changes.
- Demonstrate strong attention to detail, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.
- Understand the financial and commercial management of projects.
- Provide technical support for prequalification documents, RFPs and client inquiries.
- Communicate effectively in written and verbal form; embed Health & Safety into all work practices.
- Participate in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to develop own expertise; contribute to business development activities.
Qualifications
- B.E./M.E. in Electrical with up to 12 years of professional experience; minimum of 6 years in Middle East projects is an added advantage.
- Proven track record in building services design across sectors (high rise, commercial, residential, retail, healthcare, industrial, educational, refurbishment, etc.).
- Experience as a project Lead Engineer on several projects.
- Experienced in multi-disciplinary teamwork with architectural, engineering and planning disciplines.
- Experience in preparing project proposals, arranging resources, planning and running projects.
- Advanced knowledge of electrical engineering principles for LV, Lighting, ELV and FA/FLS designs; comprehensive understanding of building services systems.
- Knowledge of local statutes and design standards (BS-EN, CIBSE, ASHRAE, NFPA, etc.).
- Familiarity with local authority regulations and submission requirements in the Middle East (UAE, KSA) and related authorities (DEWA, ADDC, SEC, SBC, Etisalat, Du, Civil Defence, etc.).
- Ability to carry out manual and computer-aided calculations (e.g., Amtech, Dialux) and perform technical/financial analyses.
- Competent use of MS Office; knowledge of AutoCAD, Autodesk Revit and Navisworks recommended.
- Knowledge of BIM automation/digitalisation techniques and standards; awareness of sustainable design practices (LEED or Estidama preferred).
Personal qualities: self-motivated, team player, able to work independently with minimal supervision, and adaptable to changing deadlines.
