Job summary

M&G India is seeking a senior data engineer to own and advance data platforms. You will lead Azure-based data pipelines, implement lakehouse architectures, and collaborate with business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable solutions.

Responsibilities cover migration of data warehouses to Azure, performance tuning, governance, and cross-team collaboration to deliver reliable analytics capabilities for the enterprise.

Qualifications

• Lead data engineering projects using Azure stack and modern data platforms.
• Collaborate with business teams to gather requirements and drive solutions.
• Ensure data quality, governance, and scalable architectural decisions.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement data engineering pipelines with ADF and Databricks.
• Migrate on-prem data warehouses to cloud data platforms on Azure.
• Develop lakehouse and DW architectures for analytics workloads.
• Profile, tune, and optimize data pipelines for performance.
• Engage stakeholders to translate needs into technical specs.
• Ensure secure, compliant data access using Azure services.
• Guide offshore/onsite teams through project lifecycles.

• To work collaboratively with colleagues and take personal accountability to maintain and enhance controls you are responsible for to support improvement of the overall control environment, customers outcomes and a reduction in M&G plc's operational risk.
• Lead data engineering projects to build and operationalize data solutions for business using Azure services in combination with custom solutions – Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Flows, Azure Databricks, Azure Data Lake Gen 2, Azure SQL etc
• Proven experience on leading a team of data engineers providing technical guidance and ensuring alignment with agreed architectural principles
• Designing and implementing data engineering, ingestion and transformation functions using ADF, Databricks
• Experience in migrating on-premise data warehouses to data platforms on AZURE cloud
• Experience in Lakehouse/Datawarehouse implementation using modern data platform architecture
• Capacity Planning and Performance Tuning on ADF & Databricks pipelines
• Experience of working in secured Azure environments using Azure KeyVaults, Service Principals, and Managed Identities
• Working on off shore office based development teams, collaborating within a team environment and participating in typical project lifecycle activities such as requirement analysis, testing and release
• Should have skills for Stakeholder management, process adherence, planning & documentation
• Ability to interact with Business for requirement gathering and query resolutions
