Job summary

Teesta Investment Pvt. Ltd. is seeking a Lead Engineer to design, build, and evolve our trading infrastructure, enabling ultra-fast market data handling, order routing, and risk controls.

You will work with founder, traders, and researchers in a small, technically driven team, owning end-to-end architecture across the stack and driving performance, reliability, and engineering excellence.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience building high-performance software in latency-sensitive environments.
• End-to-end ownership across the technology stack for trading infrastructure.
• Experience across architecture, networking, market data, execution, deployment, observability, and security.
• Excellent programming skills in C++ and/or Rust.
• Strong knowledge of distributed systems, Linux internals, OS, networking, and systems architecture.
• Proven track record designing reliable, scalable production systems.
• Leadership experience delivering complex technical projects.
• Analytical, problem-solving skills with sound architectural decisions.

Unlike traditional software systems, trading infrastructure operates under extreme constraints. Market data arrives continuously, execution windows are measured in microseconds, and every layer of the technology stack can influence performance. Building successful trading systems requires thoughtful engineering across infrastructure, networking, distributed systems, operating systems, and low-latency software.

The Team

This role sits at the core of our engineering organisation and works directly with the founder, traders, and quantitative researchers. We are intentionally small, highly technical, and engineering-driven. Decisions are made through technical discussion and evidence rather than hierarchy.

The Role

Building infrastructure for high-frequency trading is fundamentally different from building conventional software.

Every component of the platform—from market data ingestion and networking to execution engines, infrastructure, security, monitoring, and deployment—must work together with predictable performance under demanding market conditions. Small improvements in latency, reliability, or operational efficiency can have a significant impact.

As Lead Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and continuously evolving the technology that powers our trading business.

This is not a role for someone who has specialised in a single part of the infrastructure stack. We are looking for an engineer who has built trading infrastructure end to end and understands how every layer contributes to overall system performance. You should be comfortable moving between architecture, infrastructure, networking, operating systems, execution, security, cloud platforms, and production operations.

Depending On Your Experience, Your Work May Include

• Designing and evolving the architecture of our low-latency trading platform.
• Building high-performance execution systems capable of processing market data and placing orders with minimal latency.
• Developing scalable infrastructure for market data ingestion, storage, simulation, and backtesting.
• Optimising Linux systems, networking, and infrastructure for predictable low-latency performance.
• Designing deployment, observability, monitoring, and operational tooling for production trading systems.
• Building secure infrastructure and implementing best practices across systems, cloud environments, and engineering workflows.
• Working closely with traders and quantitative researchers to translate research into robust production systems.
• Leading complex engineering projects from design through production deployment while maintaining high standards for reliability, performance, and code quality.
• Hiring, mentoring, and developing a high-performing engineering team while fostering a culture of technical excellence, ownership, and continuous improvement.
• Evaluating and adopting technologies that improve engineering productivity, operational efficiency, and platform reliability.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for engineers who combine deep systems expertise with strong technical leadership.

You Should Have

• 6+ years of experience building high-performance software, preferably within high-frequency trading or another latency-sensitive environment.
• Demonstrated experience building trading infrastructure from first principles with end-to-end ownership across the technology stack.
• Hands‑on experience across architecture, networking, market data systems, execution platforms, production infrastructure, deployment, observability, and security—not just one specialised area.
• Exceptional programming skills in C++ and/or Rust.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, Linux internals, operating systems, networking, and systems architecture.
• A track record of designing reliable, scalable, and maintainable production systems.
• Proven experience leading engineering teams and delivering complex technical projects.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to make sound architectural decisions under evolving requirements.
• A bias for ownership, simplicity, and engineering excellence.

Experience in cryptocurrency markets is valuable but not essential. We value exceptional engineering fundamentals and the ability to learn new domains quickly.
