Electromechanical Lead Engineer will lead the architecture and execution of precision linear and rotary actuator & will guide a multidisciplinary team to optimize motor control, gear-trains, feedback mechanisms, and packaging, ensuring all hardware satisfies rigorous performance, reliability, and regulatory requirements & must be a proactive problem-solver eager to implement new technologies and maintain rigorous attention to detail in a knowledge-sharing environment.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Lead the conceptualization and detailed design of electromechanical actuators, integrating motors, gearboxes, ball/roller screws, encoders, and control electronics.
Structural Designing and analysis:
- Review 3D models and detailed 2D production drawings in SolidWorks.
- Ensure GD&T (ASME Y14.5) implemented in drawings to establish precise tolerances.
- Ensure design for Environmental Ruggedization (MIL-STD compliance), including thermal management and vibration isolation.
- Perform kinematic, dynamic, and thermal hand calculations, tolerance stack-ups, and finite element analysis (FEA) to validate structural and electromagnetic integrity.
Integration & Testing of Subsystems:
- Oversee the physical integration of subsystems according to assembly drawings and clearance documents.
- Perform Mass Balancing (static and dynamic) to optimize motor efficiency and stabilization.
- Execute rigorous testing protocols for missile/UAV/robotic subsystems to validate performance against mission requirements.
Designing Tools, Jigs & Fixture:
- Design custom Jigs, Fixtures, and specialized tools to streamline assembly and environmental testing processes.
Documentation:
- Prepare comprehensive Integration Documents, Assembly Checklists, and System-Level Work Logs.
Other Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate clearance records and design history files for cross-functional stakeholders.
- Follow ups & take clearance from various stakeholders.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Educational Qualifications & Work Experience:
- Candidate should have B. Tech or M. Tech in Mechanical/Robotics/Mechatronics engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 9 years of work experience.
- Experience in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Siemens NX, or Creo) and simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, ANSYS).
- Experience in system level integration of actuator (motor, gearbox, encoders, brakes, and sensors.
- Experience in design calculations, prototyping and testing of actuators.
- Proven track record in developing Defense or Aerospace products from scratch (NPD) through to delivery.
- knowledge of material selection (Aerospace alloys, composites) and component selection (motors, bearings, sliprings, encoders).
- Strong understanding of Limits, Fits, and ISO/ASME Y14.5 standards.
- Previous experience in Defense, UAVs, Robotics, Drones, or Gimbal Systems.
- Experience in DFM/DFA (Design for Manufacturing/Assembly) for CNC and 3D printing.
- Excellent teamwork skills with the ability to coordinate across electronics and software teams.
