Job summary

Airtel in India seeks a seasoned Lead - Device QA (5G & Broadband) to own the end-to-end quality strategy for smartphones, FWA, IoT, FTTH, and related devices. You will steer validation, release governance, and performance testing from concept to launch.

You will lead a multi-disciplinary QA team, collaborating with Device R&D, Product, Marketing, Strategy, and OEM partners to deliver high-quality customer experiences across devices and networks.

Qualifications

• Experience in Telecom Device QA, Broadband Device Validation, or Wireless Product Testing.
• Minimum 5+ years of experience leading multi-domain QA teams and managing end-to-end device validation programs.
• Proven experience working with telecom operators, OEMs, chipset vendors, and cross-functional product teams.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Define the overall QA strategy, validation methodology, quality gates, and release criteria for all device categories.
• Lead and mentor a team of QA SMEs across Smartphones, FWA, RedCap, IoT, FTTH, UBR, and LBR devices.
• Own end-to-end device validation, including requirement analysis, test planning, functional, regression, interoperability, protocol, performance, field, and customer experience testing.
• Drive commercial readiness by ensuring quality benchmarks are met before product launch.
• Collaborate with Device R&D, Product, Customer Experience, Marketing, Strategy, Network, and OEM partners throughout the product lifecycle.
• Lead defect management, root cause analysis, log analysis, and issue resolution with internal teams and external partners.
• Define and drive QA automation strategy, CI/CD integration, lab modernization, and AI-assisted testing initiatives.
• Ensure interoperability across chipset platforms, network vendors, broadband infrastructure, and cloud/application ecosystems.
• Continuously improve QA processes, lab capabilities, quality metrics, and customer experience through data-driven quality governance.
• Support field trials, production issues, software releases, and lifecycle quality improvements.

Job Description: Lead - Device QA ( 5G & Broadband )

Role Overview

The Lead End-to-End Device Quality Assurance will own the end-to-end quality strategy, validation, and release governance for the complete portfolio of customer devices, including 5G Smartphones, Fixed Wireless Access , RedCap, IoT, FTTH (ONT/Router), UBR, and LBR devices.

The role will lead a team of domain SMEs responsible for device-specific validation while ensuring seamless customer experience across devices, network, applications, and services. Working closely with Device R&D, Product, Customer Experience, Marketing, Strategy, Network Engineering, OEMs, and chipset partners, the role will drive product quality from concept through commercial launch and lifecycle management.

Required Skills & Technical Expertise

• Strong understanding of LTE, 5G NR (NSA/SA), IMS, VoLTE, VoNR, VoWiFi, Wi-Fi, FTTH, GPON/XGS-PON, TCP/IP, IPv6, RedCap, NB-IoT, CAT-M, and broadband technologies.
• Hands-on experience in validating 5G Smartphones, FWA CPE, ONTs, Wi-Fi Routers, IoT devices, UBR/LBR, and Enterprise Broadband devices.
• Expertise in end-to-end device testing, protocol validation, interoperability testing, customer experience validation, and commercial acceptance testing.
• Strong experience with log analysis and debugging tools such as ADB, QXDM, Wireshark, Layer-3 (NAS/RRC), and IMS signaling.
• Familiarity with test platforms such as Anritsu, Keysight, Rohde & Schwarz, Spirent, Viavi TM500, and chipset tools.
• Experience in QA automation using Python, Robot Framework, Appium/Selenium, REST APIs, Jenkins, and CI/CD.
• Strong leadership, stakeholder management, problem-solving, communication, and project management skills with the ability to drive cross-functional collaboration and continuous quality improvement.
