Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience in Quality Engineering, Telecom Testing, and Test Management.
• Significant exposure to 4G/5G network architectures and telecom ecosystems.
• Proven experience leading large-scale QA/QE teams across multiple projects and geographies.
• Strong understanding of telecom protocols including Diameter, SIP, SS7, GTP, HTTP, and SMPP.
• Security testing and compliance with ISO 27001, GDPR, GSMA security specs.
• Hands-on automation and API testing experience.

Position: Senior Manager – Quality Engineering

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager – Quality Engineering with deep expertise in Telecom Protocols to lead and drive quality assurance for our telecom and software solutions. The ideal candidate will have over 12 years of experience in QA leadership, test strategy, and execution with strong knowledge of telecom protocol testing, automation, and end-to-end system validation. This role requires managing teams, collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders, and ensuring high-quality product delivery.

• Lead and manage a team of quality engineers across multiple projects, providing technical direction, mentorship, and performance management.
• Define and implement the overall test strategy, frameworks, and best practices for Telecom protocol validation and system testing.
• Collaborate closely with product management, architecture, and development teams to align quality goals with business objectives.
• Drive end-to-end validation of telecom protocols (e.g., 3G/4G/5G, IMS, SIP, Diameter, SS7, etc.) ensuring compliance with industry standards.
• Oversee test planning, execution, automation coverage, and defect management.
• Perform risk assessments, root cause analysis, and ensure corrective/preventive actions are in place.
• Establish and monitor quality KPIs, metrics, and reporting to senior leadership.
• Stay updated on emerging telecom technologies, protocols, and testing methodologies, and guide the adoption of modern tools and practices.
• Partner with customer-facing teams to address escalations, resolve quality issues, and support customer acceptance testing.

Desired Profile: -

• 12+ years of experience in Quality Engineering, Telecom Testing, and Test Management, with significant exposure to 4G/5G network architectures and telecom ecosystems.
• Proven experience leading large-scale QA/QE teams, including managers, leads, and engineers across multiple projects and geographies.
• Strong understanding of telecom protocols including Diameter, SIP, SS7, GTP, HTTP, and SMPP, with the ability to drive technical reviews and quality governance.
• Security Testing & Compliance: Familiarity with security testing practices and relevant compliance standards and industry guidelines such as ISO 27001, GDPR, and GSMA security specifications, including GSMA FS.11 (SS7), FS.19 (Diameter), and FS.20 (GTP), with an understanding of the associated fraud and attack scenarios such as location tracking, SMS/call interception, subscriber fraud, and DoS attacks.
• Hands-on experience in attack simulation and protocol fuzzing, with the ability to simulate malicious telecom signaling scenarios such as spoofed SS7/SCCP and Diameter messages, GTP tunnel hijacking, and other signaling attacks, and evaluate firewall effectiveness through detection rates, false positives, and false negatives.
• Firewall Functional Testing: Hands-on experience in functional testing of firewall rule engines and security policies, including category-based blocking, whitelisting/blacklisting, block-versus-alert modes, rule configuration and tuning, and validation of rule effectiveness across different traffic and attack scenarios.
• Performance & High Availability Testing: Hands-on experience in performance and high-availability testing of real-time telecom signaling firewalls, including validation of high TPS/CPS throughput, latency requirements, scalability, sustained traffic loads, failover, redundancy, and HA behavior under normal and peak traffic conditions.
• Threat Intelligence Integration Testing: Experience in testing threat intelligence integrations, including validating the firewall’s ability to ingest, process, update, and act on external threat intelligence and blocklist feeds, and ensuring that identified malicious entities are correctly detected, blocked, or alerted based on configured security policies.
• Demonstrated expertise in defining and implementing enterprise-wide test strategies, quality frameworks, and automation roadmaps.
• Strong knowledge of test automation technologies and scripting languages such as Python, Shell, and Java, with experience driving automation adoption at scale.
• Experience overseeing the use of telecom testing tools, including Wireshark, protocol analyzers, traffic generators, and simulation platforms.
• Hands-on understanding of automation frameworks such as Robot Framework and modern test automation practices.
• Experience governing API testing and performance engineering using tools such as Postman, JMeter, dsTest, Seagull, or equivalent technologies.
• Strong expertise in test planning, quality metrics, release readiness, risk management, defect governance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively with senior leadership, Product Management, Architecture, Engineering, DevOps, and Customer-facing teams.
• Strong leadership, people management, organizational development, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Experience building high-performing QE organizations through mentoring, coaching, succession planning, and capability development.

Nice to Have

• Experience with additional core network technologies and telecom protocols.
• Experience managing cross-functional integration testing with third-party vendors or external teams.

Work Experience: 15+ years in QA/Testing with significant exposure to Telecom Protocols and at least 5 years in a managerial capacity.

Educational Qualification: BE. / B.Tech., M.E./M. Tech. or M. Sc. in Computer Science or any related qualification.
