Job summary

Staples India Business Innovation Hub Private Limited is seeking a Lead Desktop Engineer to drive desktop engineering initiatives as part of the Desktop Engineer team. You will oversee 24x7 support for Staples’ desktop machines, ensuring stability, scalability, and security across Windows platforms.

The role requires hands-on Windows administration experience, enterprise PC management via SCCM/Intune/Azure AD, and strong deployment strategies for complex rollouts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science with 6–10 years of IT infrastructure experience.
• 6–10 years of IT infrastructure experience with enterprise desktop environments.
• Proficiency with Windows desktop engineering, upgrades and patches, and PC management platforms.

Responsibilities

• Mentor and support less experienced engineers and technicians.

As a Lead Desktop Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering desktop engineering initiatives within the Desktop Engineer team at Staples. This team provides 24x7 support for Staples' desktop machines, ensuring stability, scalability, and security across critical platforms. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience managing enterprise level desktop environments and strong expertise in Windows administration, leveraging automation tools such as SCCM or Intune. We are seeking a seasoned technical operations professional who is eager to grow and help shape the future of our technology ecosystem.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science with 6 to 10 years of proven IT infrastructure experience.
• Must have 3 to 5 years of experience in each of the following (experience may be gained concurrently):
• Window desktop engineering, including building of upgrades and patches.
• One of the following PC management platforms: SCCM, Intune or Azure AD.
• Knowledge of Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and patch customization
• Demonstrates strong engineering skills and deployment strategies for complex rollouts
• Experience in troubleshooting network and security technologies (DNS, load balancing, firewalls, etc.)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with emphasis on complex documentation

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Windows mobile device management and Mac OS
• Experience with patching and deployment software (Patch my PC, AutoPilot, BigFix, JAMF)
