Job summary

Lead Design & Production (Eye wear)

A leading player in the Indian eyewear industry is looking for a senior eyewear professional who can bring together global design understanding, deep eyewear expertise, Indian market intelligence and strong product leadership.

Location: Kolkata

Experience: 12 - 15 years

CTC: Not a constraint for the right candidate

Reporting to: Managing Director

About the Role

The role will not design eyewear directly; rather, it will provide strategic design leadership, product direction and expert guidance to the Indian Design Team, ensuring global design direction is translated into commercially relevant, competitive and high-quality products for the Indian market.

You will be the strategic bridge between global design direction, the Indian team, product development, QC in Indian market.

What will you do

• Design & Trend Leadership: Understand global and Indian eyewear trends shapes, colours, materials and finishes & guide the Indian Design Team in translating them for India.
• Product Development: Drive Concept Sampling Modification Approval Production Final Product, aligning design intent, quality, timelines and commercial objectives.
• India Market Relevance: Evaluate products across Indian regions, consumer segments, channels and price points — identifying what should be developed, adapted/ refined.
• Global Brand Adaptation: Interpret global design direction by maintaining the DNA of international licensed brands and ensuring relevance for India.
• Production & Quality Governance: Work with various departments to ensure approved designs are accurately translated into finished goods.
• Competitive & Product Intelligence: Track Indian and global eyewear brands in all respects and emerging trends. Leverage the organisation’s 25-year history of designs, products and market learnings to identify future opportunities.

Who are we looking for

• 12–15 years of strong eyewear industry experience
• Deep understanding of eyewear design, shapes, colours, materials and finishes
• Strong knowledge of Indian consumers and regional preferences
• Experience in product development and sampling
• Ability to guide designers without being the hands-on designer
• Strong understanding of global eyewear brands and trends
• Experience working with Production, QC, suppliers and factories
• Commercial understanding of costing, pricing and product positioning
• Strong market intelligence, analytical and leadership capabilities
• Excellent command of Excel, PowerPoint and relevant design/product software
