Job summary

ABC Fitness Solutions is seeking a senior data engineer to design and optimize CRM data paths, focusing on Member Aggregate and audience segmentation. You will build and run high-performance SQL workflows on MySQL and Redshift, and develop lakehouse analytics using Apache Iceberg.

You will mentor teams, collaborate with CRM Ops and Connect, and help drive reliable data pipelines in an Agile, DevOps-oriented environment.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in data engineering and/or backend data roles.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with large datasets.
• Experience with ETL/ELT pipelines in production.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical data engineering design for XLerate across multiple CRM-space teams, focused on Member Aggregate, segmentation, and data paths for audiences, campaigns, reporting, and Connect-driven use cases.
• Design, build, and optimize high-performance SQL and data-intensive workflows on large MySQL and Redshift datasets.
• Design and operate lakehouse-style analytical models (including Apache Iceberg) used by segmentation, audiences, and reporting.
• Own reliability of the CRM data platform path — pipelines, replication, and query infrastructure that product squads depend on.
• Partner with Product and engineers on CRM Ops and Connect teams to ship data capabilities for measurable studio outcomes.
• Provide technical mentorship on data modeling, query performance, and production-safe delivery.
• Work with cross-functional network of teams in energized, customer-focused environment.
• Use Agile & Lean with DevOps and CI/CD.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Use cutting edge Agile & Lean ways of working underpinned by DevOps and CI/CD

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or relevant field exp. preferred
• 6+ years of experience in data engineering and/or backend-data roles; prior lead or tech‑lead experience preferred
• Strong expertise writing and optimizing complex SQL against large datasets (MySQL or equivalent)
• Experience with data pipelines (ETL/ELT and/or event‑driven replication) in production
• Hands‑on AWS infrastructure for data platforms (or equivalent experience on another cloud IaaS), including compute, storage, networking, and IAM as used by warehouses and query engines
• Experience with Trino or another distributed SQL engine in production
• Experience designing analytical models on a cloud warehouse (Amazon Redshift or equivalent)
• Solid understanding of the practical application of agile development methods in an Agile/Lean/Continuous Delivery environment
• Knowledge of modern Quality and Testing principles for data and services
• Strong written and verbal communication; comfortable mentoring and aligning stakeholders
• Comfortable learning new technologies and systems

AND IT’S GREAT TO HAVE

• Experience with Golang or Java services that consume or serve CRM/member data
• Familiarity with analytics stacks (e.g. Trino) or warehouse patterns
• Apache Iceberg (or another open table format) and lakehouse patterns
• Experience with dbt for transforming and testing lakehouse models
• Infrastructure-as-code (e.g. Terraform) for data platform components
• Experience with messaging/streaming (e.g. SQS, Kafka) at scale
• Prior CRM, marketing-tech, or audience/segmentation domain experience
