Job summary

Chevron Corporation's ENGINE in Bengaluru invites a Lead Engineer, Cloud Data Hosting, to lead design, modernization, and operations of storage, backup, and cloud platforms. You will partner with Product Owners, Architects, and vendors, delivering roadmaps and implementations across Azure, NetApp, and Veeam.

The role requires 14+ years in infrastructure, strong Azure, NetApp, and DevOps experience, mentoring teams, handling P1 incidents, and driving automation and IaC in a global environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related discipline.
• 14+ years of experience in Infrastructure Engineering, Cloud Hosting, Storage, Backup, and Data Protection platforms.
• 10+ years of hands-on experience with NetApp Storage technologies including ONTAP, CVO, ANF, SnapMirror, SnapVault.
• 8+ years of experience with Veeam Backup & Replication, Enterprise Backup Platforms, DR, Cyber Recovery.

Responsibilities

About the position

The Lead Engineer, Cloud Data Hosting, is responsible for driving the design, engineering, modernization, and operational excellence of enterprise storage, backup, and cloud hosting platforms. This role serves as a technical leader, partnering closely with Product Owners, Architects, Engineering teams, Operations teams, and vendors to transform strategic initiatives into executable roadmaps and successful implementations. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in NetApp, Veeam, Microsoft Azure, DevOps, Automation, and AI-driven operations, while providing technical leadership, mentoring engineers, and managing critical P1 escalations across global environments.

Required Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related discipline.
• 14+ years of experience in Infrastructure Engineering, Cloud Hosting, Storage, Backup, and Data Protection platforms.
• 10+ years of hands-on experience with NetApp Storage technologies including ONTAP, CVO, ANF, SnapMirror, SnapVault, and enterprise storage architectures.
• 8+ years of experience with Veeam Backup & Replication, Enterprise Backup Platforms, Disaster Recovery, Cyber Recovery, and Data Protection solutions.
• Strong experience with Microsoft Azure including IaaS, PaaS, Azure NetApp Files, Azure Backup, Site Recovery, Entra ID, governance, and security.
• Proven experience working in Agile, Scrum, and SAFe delivery models.
• Experience in engineering-led product development and platform modernization initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with Product Owners and Architects to convert strategic initiatives into implementable engineering work.
• Drive modernization initiatives from ideation, design, planning, implementation, testing, deployment, and operational handover across storage, backup, and cloud platforms.
• Participate in PI Planning, backlog refinement, roadmap discussions, and prioritization activities.
• Ensure successful execution of program deliverables while meeting quality, security, and timeline objectives.
• Lead engineering teams in implementing Azure, NetApp, and Veeam solutions using best practices.
• Establish reusable automation frameworks, IaC patterns, and engineering standards.
• Drive adoption of DevOps, GitHub, Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, IaC, AI to improve operational efficiency, observability, and platform reliability.
• Champion innovation and continuous improvement across Data Hosting services.
• Provide leadership during P1/P2 major incidents and critical escalations.
• Drive root cause analysis, problem management, and preventive action planning.
• Ensure platform reliability, disaster recovery readiness, and service resilience.
• Support audit, compliance, cybersecurity, and risk remediation activities.
• Mentor, coach, and groom engineers to develop technical depth and future leadership capabilities.
• Promote knowledge sharing, design thinking, and engineering best practices.
• Build SME capability across NetApp, Veeam, Azure, Automation, and AI domains.

Chevron ENGINE supports global operations, supporting business requirements across the world. Accordingly, the work hours for employees will be aligned to support business requirements. The standard work week will be Monday to Friday. Working hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm or 1.30pm to 10.30pm.
