Job summary

Airbus India Private Limited is seeking a Lead CAD Engineer for the Methods & Tools team to design and develop C++ plugins for CATIA V6 / 3DEXPERIENCE, and to embed EKL-based rules and automated workflows within models.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, lead junior developers, and ensure code quality through reviews and testing. This role demands strong CAD development experience in aerospace and deep knowledge of the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional CAD application development in automotive or aerospace industries.
• Deep proficiency in C++ (OO, memory management, design patterns) and mastery of CAA V5/V6 APIs.
• Hands-on knowledge of EKL, knowledge templates, and Rule/Reaction scripts.
• Domain knowledge in automotive or aerospace product development is a plus.
• Familiarity with 3DEXPERIENCE architecture, Data Model, and PLM integration patterns.

Responsibilities

• Design, code, and maintain C++ and CAA plugins/extensions for CATIA V6 / 3DEXPERIENCE.

Job Description: Lead CAD Engineer - Methods & Tools Team: Airbus India - Engineering Methods & Tools

About the team: We are a transverse team working with different core engineering verticals in Airbus. The USP of this team is working in a multi-functional environment providing digital solutions to engineering problems. The team is composed of people with Core Engineering domain knowledge complemented by software development skills. The team plays an enabler role in various digitization initiatives across Airbus utilizing the latest technologies and the domain knowledge they have.

Key Responsibilities

• Architecture & Development: Design, code, and maintain robust C++ and CAA plugins/extensions for CATIA V6 / 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
• Automation & Rules: Leverage EKL to embed engineering rules, template design, parameterization, and automated workflows within 3DEXPERIENCE models.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with engineering teams, PLM architects, and business stakeholders to translate domain requirements into scalable software solutions.
• Code Quality & Testing: Write clean, modular code; conduct peer code reviews, unit testing, and continuous debugging within the CAA framework.
• Team Leadership & Mentorship: Lead, guide, and mentor junior CAD developers, conducting code reviews, providing technical direction on CAA/EKL best practices, and driving team productivity and skill growth.

Required Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum 8 years of professional CAD application development in automotive or aerospace industries.
• Core Technical Stack: Deep proficiency in C++ (object-oriented programming, memory management, design patterns). Demonstrated mastery of CAA V5 / V6 (3DEXPERIENCE platform API) development.
• Hands-on knowledge of EKL (Enterprise Knowledge Language), Knowledge Template creation, and Rule/Reaction scripts.
• Domain Knowledge: Strong grasp of automotive or aerospace (e.g., airframe, aero-structures, routing) product development processes is a Plus.
• Platform Expertise: Familiarity with the overall 3DEXPERIENCE architecture, Data Model, and PLM integration patterns.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Python script automation, web services (3DEXPERIENCE REST APIs / Enovia Web Services), or SQL.
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies, Git/SVN, and CI/CD pipelines for CAA projects.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
