Job summary

FIS is seeking an Automation Engineer to enhance software quality and release confidence for enterprise retirement applications. You will design, build, and maintain scalable automated testing solutions, working with QA, engineering, product, and business teams to drive automation strategy and execution.

Your role focuses on improving automation coverage, defect prevention, and release readiness through continuous quality improvements.

Qualifications

• Proven experience testing and automating web-based enterprise applications
• Strong Java programming skills for maintainable automation code
• Hands-on with Selenium WebDriver, Cucumber, Gherkin and framework development
• Experience with TestNG or JUnit and build tools (Maven/Gradle)
• Knowledge of test design, regression testing, and QA practices
• Experience creating Cucumber step definitions and runners
• Understanding CI/CD and integration with Azure DevOps, Jenkins or GitHub Actions
• Ability to write SQL queries for data validation and verification
• Strong analytical, debugging and collaboration skills
• Degree in CS/Engineering or equivalent experience

About the Role: As an Automation Engineer, you will help improve software quality, release confidence, and delivery speed across enterprise retirement applications. You will design, build, and maintain scalable automated testing solutions that support continuous delivery and high-quality customer outcomes. Working closely with quality assurance, engineering, product, and business teams, you will drive test automation strategy and execution throughout the software development lifecycle. Success in this role is measured through automation coverage, defect prevention, release readiness, and continuous quality improvements.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test solutions using Java, Selenium WebDriver, and Cucumber.
• Build reusable automation frameworks using Page Object Model and maintainable coding standards.
• Convert user stories and acceptance criteria into automated test scenarios and feature files.
• Execute automated regression, integration, and functional test suites across release cycles.
• Analyze test results, identify defects, and support root cause investigations.
• Collaborate with developers, QA teams, product owners, and business stakeholders to improve quality outcomes.
• Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous testing practices.
• Develop and maintain test data, reporting, and validation processes for reliable test execution.
• Perform API and database validation to verify system functionality and data integrity.

Required Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience testing and automating web-based enterprise applications.
• Strong programming skills in Java with the ability to write reusable, maintainable automation code.
• Hands-on experience with Selenium WebDriver, Cucumber, Gherkin, and automation framework development.
• Experience with TestNG or JUnit and build tools such as Maven or Gradle.
• Knowledge of test design techniques, regression testing, defect management, and quality assurance practices.
• Experience creating and maintaining Cucumber step definitions, hooks, tags, runners, and scenario outlines.
• Understanding of CI/CD practices and integration with tools such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions.
• Ability to write SQL queries for data validation, troubleshooting, and test verification.
• Strong analytical, debugging, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience within the U.S. Retirement domain, including defined contribution, defined benefit, pension, or 401(k) solutions.
• Knowledge of participant transactions, loans, withdrawals, distributions, and retirement plan administration workflows.
• Familiarity with retirement reporting, compliance requirements, taxation, and related business processes.
• Experience with Git, Azure Repos, TFS, or similar version control platforms.
• Certification or training in test automation, software testing, Agile delivery, or DevOps practices.
