Job summary

Lupin in Navi Mumbai seeks an experienced Lab Operations Leader to oversee daily NABL-compliant laboratory activities spanning pre-analytical to post-analytical workflows. You will manage staffing, training, and equipment calibration while driving quality and timely reporting.

The role requires deep knowledge of NABL/ISO standards, CAPA systems, and LIS proficiency. You will coordinate with pathologists and hospitals to ensure efficient sample handling and reporting accuracy.

Qualifications

• B.Sc./MSc in MLT/Life Sciences or equivalent.
• Minimum 5-10 years in NABL-accredited labs with 2-3 years in supervision.
• Strong knowledge of NABL, CAP, ISO quality systems and team management.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily lab operations across pre-, analytical, and post-analytical processes.
• Ensure compliance with NABL, ISO, and regulatory requirements via documentation and audits.
• Monitor quality indicators and implement IQC, EQAS, CAPA.
• Supervise laboratory personnel including staffing, training, and competency.
• Coordinate with clinicians, hospitals, and collection centers for sample management.
• Oversee inventory and procurement to prevent disruptions.
• Maintain calibration and validation of equipment and preventive maintenance.
• Drive productivity by monitoring KPIs, TAT, and process improvements.
• Lead audits and continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Job description

Role & responsibilities:

• Oversee daily laboratory operations across pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical processes to ensure smooth workflow and timely reporting.
• Ensure compliance with NABL, ISO, and regulatory requirements by maintaining documentation, SOPs, quality records, and audit readiness.
• Monitor laboratory quality indicators and implement Internal Quality Control (IQC), External Quality Assurance (EQAS), and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
• Manage and supervise laboratory personnel, including staffing, attendance/ duty roster, performance monitoring, training, and competency assessments.
• Coordinate with pathologists, clinicians, hospitals, other lab setups and collection centers to ensure efficient sample management and customer satisfaction.
• Oversee inventory and procurement management for reagents, consumables, equipment, and vendor coordination to prevent operational disruptions.
• Ensure proper maintenance, calibration, and validation of laboratory equipment and coordinate preventive maintenance and troubleshooting activities.
• Drive laboratory productivity and operational efficiency by monitoring KPIs, turnaround times (TAT), workload distribution, and process improvements.
• Implement biosafety, infection control, and biomedical waste management practices (BMW) in accordance with regulatory and safety guidelines.
• Lead accreditation, internal audits, external audits, and continuous quality improvement initiatives to maintain excellence in laboratory services.

Preferred candidate profile:

• B.Sc./M.Sc. (MLT)/Medical Laboratory Technology, Life Sciences, or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum 5-10 years of experience in a NABL-accredited diagnostic or hospital pathology laboratory, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of NABL, CAP, ISO, quality management systems, laboratory operations, and team management.
• Proficiency in Laboratory Information Systems (LIS), Microsoft Office, and laboratory operational metrics.
