Job summary

Weekday is seeking a motivated Junior Mechanical Design Engineer in Bengaluru to support design and development of mechanical components and assemblies. You will perform 3D modelling, 2D drafting, and prepare engineering drawings per project requirements using Siemens NX CAD and SolidWorks.

You will collaborate with senior engineers to resolve design issues, follow established design standards, and participate in NPD activities. Basic understanding of GD&T and manufacturing processes is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering required.
• Proficiency in Siemens NX CAD; SolidWorks is a plus.
• Experience in reading drawings and GD&T.
• Exposure to plastics and metal fabrication a plus.

We are looking for a motivated Junior Mechanical Design Engineer with knowledge of Siemens NX CAD, SolidWorks to support the design and development of mechanical components and assemblies. The candidate will be responsible for 3D modelling, 2D drafting, assembly design, and preparing engineering drawings as per project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Create 3D models of mechanical components and assemblies using Siemens NX CAD and SolidWorks.
• Prepare detailed 2D engineering drawings with appropriate dimensions, tolerances, and annotations.
• Develop part models, assembly models, and manufacturing drawings.
• Interpret engineering drawings, sketches, and technical specifications.
• Perform basic design modifications and update existing CAD models as required.
• Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles wherever applicable.
• Understand manufacturing processes, including machining, sheet metal fabrication, and injection moulding.
• Maintain CAD models, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
• Coordinate with senior design engineers and other departments to resolve design-related issues.
• Follow engineering design standards, established procedures, and project timelines.
• Support new product development (NPD) activities and contribute to design improvements.

Required Technical Skills

• Basic understanding of mechanics of materials and manufacturing processes.
• Knowledge of mechanical design principles and material selection.
• Understanding of jigs and fixtures.
• Familiarity with plastic component design and heavy fabrication.
• Basic knowledge of structural design.
• Understanding of New Product Development (NPD) processes.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
