Job summary

Skill Mosiac Consultancy in India seeks a Fashion Designer to drive the full design process—from concept and trend research to final production. You will build visual outputs, coordinate with the production team, and ensure timely delivery while aligning designs with brand identity.

You will develop mood boards, select palettes, sketch ideas, and create technical packs. Collaboration with suppliers and marketing teams will promote upcoming collections.

Qualifications

• Formal education in fashion design or related field is required.

• Hands-on experience throughout design to production is desirable.

Overview

As a Fashion Designer, you will be expected to create original clothing, footwear and accessories by managing the complete design process from initial concept and trend research to final production. You will focus on building visual outputs and completing assigned tasks and coordinating with production team to manage timely delivery.

• Trend & Market Research
  • Study fashion trends, consumer preferences, and cultural influences.
  • Attend fashion shows, trade fairs, and exhibitions to stay updated.
• Concept Development
  • Build mood boards, choose collection themes and select color palettes for upcoming seasons.
  • Ensure designs align with brand identity and target audience.
• Sketching & Design Creation
  • Draw initial concepts by hand or using CAD software like Adobe Illustrator to map out silhouettes and details
  • Develop technical drawings to communicate construction details.
• Fabric & Material Selection
  • Select and test fabrics, trims and textures and hardware, balancing aesthetic appeal with cost and durability.
  • Balance aesthetics with practicality, durability, and cost.
• Pattern Making & Garment Development
• Work with pattern makers and sample sewers to build templates and create first-run prototype samples.
• Oversee sample creation and adjust designs based on fit and function.
• Fittings and Adjustments
• Conduct fit sessions on models or mannequins to refine garment construction, drape and comfort.

• Production and technical packages
• Write detailed technical specifications and tech packs on how to build the final product.
• Liaise with manufacturers, seamstresses, and suppliers.
• Monitor quality control and cost and ensure timely delivery.
• Presentation & Marketing
• Prepare lookbooks, portfolios, and runway presentations.
• Collaborate with creative directors, suppliers and marketing teams to promote collections to buyers or at fashion shows.

Educational Requirements

• Formal Education: A degree or diploma in fashion design, textile design, or a related field.
• Technical Training: Courses in pattern making, garment construction, CAD (Computer-Aided Design), and fashion illustration.
• Internships/Apprenticeships: Practical experience under established designers or fashion houses.
