Job summary

Fashionc Overseas Exports is seeking a Mid-Level Fashion Designer with strong knowledge of trends, garment construction and fabrics. The role requires NIIFT background and experience converting concepts into commercially viable collections.

Responsibilities include developing new concepts, mood boards, and seasonal lines for women's, girls', and children's wear, while coordinating with merchandising, sampling, pattern, production and sourcing teams to ensure timely, production-ready designs.

Qualifications

• Strong fashion design and development skills with trend sensibility.
• Solid knowledge of garment construction and manufacturing processes.
• Excellent fabrics, trims, prints, embroidery and finishing techniques understanding.
• Forecasting and trend analysis with market awareness.
• Ability to create commercially viable and production-friendly designs.

JOB DESCRIPTION MID-LEVEL FASHION DESIGNER

Position: Mid-Level Fashion Designer

Job Summary

We are looking for a creative and commercially aware Mid-Level Fashion Designer with a strong understanding of fashion trends, garment construction, fabrics, and design development. The ideal candidate should have a NIIFT background and relevant experience in the garment industry, with the ability to convert concepts into commercially viable collections.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop new fashion concepts, styles, silhouettes, and garment collections based on market and buyer requirements.
• Conduct research on fashion trends, colours, fabrics, prints, silhouettes, and international fashion markets.
• Prepare mood boards, colour boards, design concepts, and seasonal collections.
• Develop designs for women's, girls', and children's wear as per business requirements.
• Work closely with the Merchandising, Sampling, Pattern, Production, and Sourcing teams for design execution.
• Select appropriate fabrics, trims, embellishments, colours, and finishing techniques.
• Prepare and maintain technical design sheets, sketches, measurements, and construction details.
• Coordinate with sampling teams to ensure the final sample matches the approved design.
• Review samples and provide clear comments for corrections and improvements.
• Ensure designs are commercially viable considering cost, production feasibility, quality, and timelines.
• Develop new styles based on buyer briefs, market trends, and customer requirements.
• Maintain seasonal design calendars and ensure timely completion of design developments.
• Visit markets, exhibitions, fabric/trims suppliers, and fashion events for new design inspiration.
• Support the Senior/Head Designer in collection planning and design strategy.
• Maintain proper records of designs, samples, approvals, and developments.

Required Skills

• Strong fashion design and creative development skills.
• Excellent knowledge of garment construction and manufacturing processes.
• Good understanding of fabrics, trims, prints, embroidery, embellishments, and washing techniques.
• Strong knowledge of fashion forecasting and trend analysis.
• Good understanding of colour combinations and fabric selection.
• Ability to create commercially viable and production-friendly designs.
• Good knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, CorelDRAW or similar design software.
• Strong sketching and presentation skills.
• Good communication and coordination skills.
• Ability to work under deadlines and manage multiple design developments.
• Strong attention to detail and quality.

Qualification

• Bachelor's/Master's Degree or Diploma in Fashion Design from NIIFT – Northern India Institute of Fashion Technology is preferred.
• Candidates from NIFT or other reputed fashion/design institutes may also be considered.
• Strong preference for candidates with a NIIFT/NIFT fashion design background.

Experience

• 3–6 years of relevant experience in fashion/garment design.
• Experience in export garment manufacturing, buying houses, or fashion brands will be preferred.
• Experience in developing women's, girls', and children's wear will be an advantage.
